1PROSSEGUIU ainda Eliú, e disse:

1Elihu also continued, and said,

2Espera-me um pouco, e mostrar-te-ei que ainda há razões a favor de Deus.

2“Bear with me a little, and I will show you; for I still have something to say on God’s behalf.

3De longe trarei o meu conhecimento; e ao meu Criador atribuirei a justiça.

3I will get my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

4Porque na verdade, as minhas palavras não serão falsas; contigo está um que tem perfeito conhecimento.

4For truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

5Eis que Deus é mui grande, contudo a ninguém despreza; grande é em força e sabedoria.

5“Behold, God is mighty, and doesn’t despise anyone. He is mighty in strength of understanding.

6Ele não preserva a vida do ímpio, e faz justiça aos aflitos.

6He doesn’t preserve the life of the wicked, but gives to the afflicted their right.

7Do justo não tira os seus olhos; antes estão com os reis no trono; ali os assenta para sempre, e assim são exaltados.

7He doesn’t withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne, he sets them forever, and they are exalted.

8E se estão presos em grilhões, amarrados com cordas de aflição,

8If they are bound in fetters, and are taken in the cords of afflictions,

9Então lhes faz saber a obra deles, e as suas transgressões, porquanto prevaleceram nelas.

9then he shows them their work, and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.

10Abre-lhes também os seus ouvidos, para sua disciplina, e ordena-lhes que se convertam da maldade.

10He also opens their ears to instruction, and commands that they return from iniquity.

11Se o ouvirem, e o servirem, acabarão seus dias em bem, e os seus anos em delícias.

11If they listen and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

12Porém se não o ouvirem, à espada serão passados, e expirarão sem conhecimento.

12But if they don’t listen, they shall perish by the sword; they shall die without knowledge.

13E os hipócritas de coração amontoam para si a ira; e amarrando-os ele, não clamam por socorro.

13“But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They don’t cry for help when he binds them.

14A sua alma morre na mocidade, e a sua vida perece entre os impuros.

14They die in youth. Their life perishes among the unclean.

15Ao aflito livra da sua aflição, e na opressão se revela aos seus ouvidos.

15He delivers the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear in oppression.

16Assim também te desviará da boca da angústia para um lugar espaçoso, em que não há aperto, e as iguarias da tua mesa serão cheias de gordura.

16Yes, he would have allured you out of distress, into a wide place, where there is no restriction. That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.

17Mas tu estás cheio do juízo do ímpio; o juízo e a justiça te sustentam.

17“But you are full of the judgment of the wicked. Judgment and justice take hold of you.

18Porquanto há furor, guarda-te de que não sejas atingido pelo castigo violento, pois nem com resgate algum te livrarias dele.

18Don’t let riches entice you to wrath, neither let the great size of a bribe turn you aside.

19Estimaria ele tanto tuas riquezas? Não, nem ouro, nem todas as forças do poder.

19Would your wealth sustain you in distress, or all the might of your strength?

20Não suspires pela noite, em que os povos sejam tomados do seu lugar.

20Don’t desire the night, when people are cut off in their place.

21Guarda-te, e não declines para a iniqüidade; porquanto isso escolheste antes que a aflição.

21Take heed, don’t regard iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.

22Eis que Deus é excelso em seu poder; quem ensina como ele?

22Behold, God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?
ACF
23Quem lhe prescreveu o seu caminho? Ou, quem lhe dirá: Tu cometeste maldade?

23Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness?’

24Lembra-te de engrandecer a sua obra, que os homens contemplam.

24“Remember that you magnify his work, whereof men have sung.

25Todos os homens a vêem, e o homem a enxerga de longe.
WEB
25All men have looked on it. Man sees it afar off.

26Eis que Deus é grande, e nós não o compreendemos, e o número dos seus anos não se pode esquadrinhar.

26Behold, God is great, and we don’t know him. The number of his years is unsearchable.

27Porque faz miúdas as gotas das águas que, do seu vapor, derramam a chuva,

27For he draws up the drops of water, which distill in rain from his vapor,

28A qual as nuvens destilam e gotejam sobre o homem abundantemente.

28Which the skies pour down and which drop on man abundantly.

29Porventura pode alguém entender as extensões das nuvens, e os estalos da sua tenda?

29Yes, can any understand the spreading of the clouds, and the thunderings of his pavilion?

30Eis que estende sobre elas a sua luz, e encobre as profundezas do mar.

30Behold, he spreads his light around him. He covers the bottom of the sea.

31Porque por estas coisas julga os povos e lhes dá mantimento em abundância.

31For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.

32Com as nuvens encobre a luz, e ordena não brilhar, interpondo a nuvem.

32He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.
ACF
33O que nos dá a entender o seu pensamento, como também ao gado, acerca do temporal que sobe.

33Its noise tells about him, and the livestock also concerning the storm that comes up.
