2Tão certo como vive Deus, que me tirou o direito, e o Todo-poderoso, que me amargurou a alma;

3enquanto eu tiver alento, e o sopro de Deus estiver nas minhas narinas,

3As long as I live,while I have breath from God,

4os meus lábios não falarão maldade, nem a minha língua pronunciará engano.

4my lips will speak no evil,and my tongue will speak no lies.

5Longe de mim eu vos dar razão; até que eu morra, nunca me afastarei da minha integridade.

5I will never concede that you are right;I will defend my integrity until I die.

6Eu me apegarei à minha justiça e não a largarei; o meu coração não reprova nenhum dia da minha vida.

6I will maintain my innocence without wavering.My conscience is clear for as long as I live.

9Por acaso Deus ouvirá o seu clamor, quando chegar a tribulação?

9Will God listen to their crywhen trouble comes upon them?

10Ele se deleitará no Todo-poderoso, ou invocará a Deus em todo o tempo?

10Can they take delight in the Almighty?Can they call to God at any time?

11Eu vos ensinarei acerca do poder de Deus; não vos encobrirei o que está com o Todo-poderoso.

11I will teach you about God’s power.I will not conceal anything concerning the Almighty.

12Todos vós já vistes isso; por que vos entregais completamente às palavras inúteis?

12But you have seen all this,yet you say all these useless things to me.

13Esta é a porção que Deus dá ao ímpio, a herança que os opressores recebem do Todo-poderoso:

13“This is what the wicked will receive from God;this is their inheritance from the Almighty.

14Se os seus filhos se multiplicarem, será isso para a espada; e a sua prole não se fartará de alimento.

14They may have many children,but the children will die in war or starve to death.

15Os seus descendentes que sobreviverem morrerão pela peste, e as suas viúvas não chorarão.

15Those who survive will die of a plague,and not even their widows will mourn them.

16Embora amontoe prata como pó, e acumule roupas como barro,

16“Evil people may have piles of moneyand may store away mounds of clothing.

17o justo vestirá as que ele acumular, e o inocente repartirá a prata.

17But the righteous will wear that clothing,and the innocent will divide that money.

18A casa que ele constrói é como a teia da aranha, como a cabana que o guarda faz.

18The wicked build houses as fragile as a spider’s web,as flimsy as a shelter made of branches.

19Rico se deita, mas logo não o será mais; abre os olhos, e sua riqueza já se foi.

19The wicked go to bed richbut wake to find that all their wealth is gone.

20Pavores o alcançam como um dilúvio; a tempestade o arrebata de noite.

20Terror overwhelms them like a flood,and they are blown away in the storms of the night.

21O vento oriental o leva, e ele se vai; sim, varre-o com ímpeto do seu lugar.

21The east wind carries them away, and they are gone.It sweeps them away.

22Pois atira contra ele sem poupá-lo, e ele, de forma precipitada, foge do seu poder.

22It whirls down on them without mercy.They struggle to flee from its power.

23Bate palmas contra ele, e do seu lugar assobia contra ele.
