1Then I heard him call out loudly, "Executioners, come! And bring your deadly weapons with you."

1ENTÃO me gritou aos ouvidos com grande voz, dizendo: Fazei chegar os intendentes da cidade, cada um com as suas armas destruidoras na mão.

2Six men came down the road from the upper gate that faces north, each carrying his lethal weapon. With them was a man dressed in linen with a writing case slung from his shoulder. They entered and stood by the bronze altar.

2E eis que vinham seis homens a caminho da porta superior, que olha para o norte, e cada um com a sua arma destruidora na mão, e entre eles um homem vestido de linho, com um tinteiro de escrivão à sua cintura; e entraram, e se puseram junto ao altar de bronze.

3The Glory of the God of Israel ascended from his usual place above the cherubim-angels, moved to the threshold of the Temple, and called to the man with the writing case who was dressed in linen:

3E a glória do Deus de Israel se levantou de sobre o querubim, sobre o qual estava, indo até a entrada da casa; e clamou ao homem vestido de linho, que tinha o tinteiro de escrivão à sua cintura.

4"Go through the streets of Jerusalem and put a mark on the forehead of everyone who is in anguish over the outrageous obscenities being done in the city."

4E disse-lhe o SENHOR: Passa pelo meio da cidade, pelo meio de Jerusalém, e marca com um sinal as testas dos homens que suspiram e que gemem por causa de todas as abominações que se cometem no meio dela.

5I listened as he went on to address the executioners: "Follow him through the city and kill. Feel sorry for no one. Show no compassion.

5E aos outros disse ele, ouvindo eu: Passai pela cidade após ele, e feri; não poupe o vosso olho, nem vos compadeçais.

6Kill old men and women, young men and women, mothers and children. But don't lay a hand on anyone with the mark. Start at my Temple."They started with the leaders in front of the Temple.

6Matai velhos, jovens, virgens, meninos e mulheres, até exterminá-los; mas a todo o homem que tiver o sinal não vos chegueis; e começai pelo meu santuário. E começaram pelos homens mais velhos que estavam diante da casa.

7He told the executioners, "Desecrate the Temple. Fill it with corpses. Then go out and continue the killing."

7E disse-lhes: Contaminai a casa e enchei os átrios de mortos; saí. E saíram, e feriram na cidade.

8So they went out and struck the city.While the massacre went forward, I was left alone. I fell on my face in prayer: "Oh, oh, God, my Master! Are you going to kill everyone left in Israel in this pouring out of your anger on Jerusalem?"

8Sucedeu, pois, que, havendo-os ferido, e ficando eu sozinho, caí sobre a minha face, e clamei, e disse: Ah! Senhor DEUS! dar-se-á caso que destruas todo o restante de Israel, derramando a tua indignação sobre Jerusalém?

9He said, "The guilt of Israel and Judah is enormous. The land is swollen with murder. The city is bloated with injustice. They all say, 'God has forsaken the country. He doesn't see anything we do.'

9Então me disse: A maldade da casa de Israel e de Judá é grandíssima, e a terra se encheu de sangue e a cidade se encheu de perversidade; porque dizem: O SENHOR abandonou a terra, e o SENHOR não vê.

10Well, I do see, and I'm not feeling sorry for any of them. They're going to pay for what they've done."

10Pois, também, quanto a mim, não poupará o meu olho, nem me compadecerei; sobre a cabeça deles farei recair o seu caminho.

11Just then, the man dressed in linen and carrying the writing case came back and reported, "I've done what you told me."

11Eis que o homem que estava vestido de linho, a cuja cintura estava o tinteiro, tornou com a resposta, dizendo: Fiz como me mandaste.
