1Adam slept with Eve his wife. She conceived and had Cain. She said, "I've gotten a man, with God's help!"

1Então Adão teve relações sexuais com Eva, sua mulher; ela concebeu e deu à luz Caim, e declarou: “Com a ajuda do SENHOR, tive um filho homem

2Then she had another baby, Abel. Abel was a herdsman and Cain a farmer.

2Voltou a engravidar e desta vez lhe nasceu Abel, irmão de Caim. Abel tornou-se pastor de ovelhas e Caim cultivava a terra.

3Time passed. Cain brought an offering to God from the produce of his farm.

3Passado o tempo, Caim apresentou alguns produtos do solo, em oferenda ao SENHOR.

4Abel also brought an offering, but from the firstborn animals of his herd, choice cuts of meat. God liked Abel and his offering,

4Abel, por sua vez, ofereceu as primícias e a gordura de seu rebanho. Ora, o SENHOR aceitou com alegria a Abel e sua oferta.

5but Cain and his offering didn't get his approval. Cain lost his temper and went into a sulk.

5Todavia, não se agradou de Caim e de sua oferenda; e, por esse motivo, Caim ficou muito irado e seu semblante assumiu uma expressão maligna.

6God spoke to Cain: "Why this tantrum? Why the sulking?

6Então o SENHOR abordou Caim: “Por que estás furioso? E por qual motivo teu rosto está transtornado?

7If you do well, won't you be accepted? And if you don't do well, sin is lying in wait for you, ready to pounce; it's out to get you, you've got to master it."

7Se procederes bem, não é certo que serás aceito? Entretanto, se assim não fizeres, sabe que o pecado espreita à tua porta e deseja destruir-te; cabe a ti vencê-lo!”

8Cain had words with his brother. They were out in the field; Cain came at Abel his brother and killed him.

8Contudo, propôs Caim a seu irmão Abel: “Saiamos, vamos ao campo!” E, quando estavam no campo, aconteceu que Caim se levantou contra Abel, seu irmão, e o matou.

9God said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?"He said, "How should I know? Am I his babysitter?"

9Então o SENHOR inquiriu Caim: “Onde está teu irmão Abel?” Retrucou Caim: “Não sei; acaso sou eu o protetor do meu irmão?”

10God said, "What have you done! The voice of your brother's blood is calling to me from the ground.

10Exclamou o SENHOR: “Que fizeste? Ouve! Da terra, o sangue do teu irmão clama a mim.

11From now on you'll get nothing but curses from this ground; you'll be driven from this ground that has opened its arms to receive the blood of your murdered brother.

11Portanto, agora és mais amaldiçoado que a terra que abriu a boca para tragar, de tuas mãos, o sangue de teu irmão.

12You'll farm this ground, but it will no longer give you its best. You'll be a homeless wanderer on Earth."
KJA
12Quando cultivares o solo, este não te fornecerá mais da sua força; serás um fugitivo errante pelo mundo!”

13Cain said to God, "My punishment is too much. I can't take it!

13Apelou Caim ao SENHOR: “Meu castigo é maior do que posso suportar.

14You've thrown me off the land and I can never again face you. I'm a homeless wanderer on Earth and whoever finds me will kill me."
KJA
14Vê! Hoje tu me expulsas desta terra, e terei de me esconder da tua face; serei um fugitivo errante pelo mundo, e qualquer que me encontrar me matará!”

15God told him, "No. Anyone who kills Cain will pay for it seven times over." God put a mark on Cain to protect him so that no one who met him would kill him.

16Cain left the presence of God and lived in No-Man's-Land, east of Eden.

16a Caim, sofrerá sete vezes a vingança.” E o SENHOR colocou em Caim um sinal, para que ninguém que viesse a encontrá-lo o matasse.

17Cain slept with his wife. She conceived and had Enoch. He then built a city and named it after his son, Enoch.

17Então Caim coabitou com sua mulher, ela engravidou e deu à luz Enoque. Depois Caim fundou uma cidade, à qual deu o nome do seu filho, Enoque.

18Enoch had Irad,Irad had Mehujael,Mehujael had Methushael,Methushael had Lamech.

20Adah gave birth to Jabal, the ancestor of all who live in tents and herd cattle.

21His brother's name was Jubal, the ancestor of all who play the lyre and flute.

22Zillah gave birth to Tubal-Cain, who worked at the forge making bronze and iron tools. Tubal-Cain's sister was Naamah.

23Lamech said to his wives,Adah and Zillah, listen to me;you wives of Lamech, hear me out:I killed a man for wounding me,a young man who attacked me.

23Então Lameque vangloriou-se diante de suas esposas: “Ada e Zilá, ouvi-me! Vós, mulheres de Lameque, escutai o que passo a declarar-vos: Matei um homem por causa de ferimentos que me causara; e uma criança porque me ofendeu.

24If Cain is avenged seven times,for Lamech it's seventy-seven!

24Ora, se Caim é vingado setes vezes, Lameque pode ser, setenta vezes sete!”

25Adam slept with his wife again. She had a son whom she named Seth. She said, "God has given me another child in place of Abel whom Cain killed."

25Novamente Adão teve relações sexuais com sua esposa, e ela deu à luz outro filho a quem chamou de Sete, exclamando: “Deus me concedeu outro filho para ficar em lugar de Abel, que foi morto por Caim!”

26And then Seth had a son whom he named Enosh.That's when men and women began praying and worshiping in the name of God.
