Hb 1HebreusHb 3
MSG
1It's crucial that we keep a firm grip on what we've heard so that we don't drift off.
AMP
1For this reason we must pay much closer attention than ever to the things that we have heard, so that we do not drift away from truth.
MSG
2If the old message delivered by the angels was valid and nobody got away with anything,
AMP
2For if the message given through angels was authentic and unalterable, and every violation and disobedient act received an appropriate penalty,
MSG
3do you think we can risk neglecting this latest message, this magnificent salvation? First of all, it was delivered in person by the Master, then accurately passed on to us by those who heard it from him.
AMP
3how will we escape if we ignore such a great salvation ? For it was spoken at first by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us and proved authentic by those who personally heard ,
MSG
4All the while God was validating it with gifts through the Holy Spirit, all sorts of signs and miracles, as he saw fit.
AMP
4God also testifying with them , both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.
MSG
5God didn't put angels in charge of this business of salvation that we're dealing with here.
AMP
5It was not to angels that God subjected the world of the future , about which we are speaking.
MSG
6It says in Scripture, What is man and woman that you bother with them; why take a second look their way?
AMP
6But one has testified somewhere , saying, "What is man, that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man, that You graciously care for him?
MSG
7You made them not quite as high as angels, bright with Eden's dawn light;
AMP
7"You have made him for a little while lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands;
MSG
8Then you put them in charge of your entire handcrafted world. When God put them in charge of everything, nothing was excluded. But we don't see it yet, don't see everything under human jurisdiction.
AMP
8You have put all things in subjection under his feet ." Now in putting all things in subjection to man, He left nothing outside his control. But at present we do not yet see all things subjected to him.
MSG
9What we do see is Jesus, made "not quite as high as angels," and then, through the experience of death, crowned so much higher than any angel, with a glory "bright with Eden's dawn light." In that death, by God's grace, he fully experienced death in every person's place.
AMP
9But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while , crowned with glory and honor because of His suffering of death, so that by the grace of God He might experience death for everyone.
MSG
10It makes good sense that the God who got everything started and keeps everything going now completes the work by making the Salvation Pioneer perfect through suffering as he leads all these people to glory.
AMP
10For it was fitting for God that He, for whose sake are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the author and founder of their salvation perfect through suffering .
MSG
11Since the One who saves and those who are saved have a common origin, Jesus doesn't hesitate to treat them as family,
AMP
11Both Jesus who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for this reason He is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters,
MSG
12saying, I'll tell my good friends, my brothers and sisters, all I know about you; I'll join them in worship and praise to you.
AMP
12saying, "I will declare Your (the Father's) name to My brethren (believers), In the midst of the congregation I will sing Your praise."
MSG
13Again, he puts himself in the same family circle when he says, Even I live by placing my trust in God. And yet again, I'm here with the children God gave me.
AMP
13And again , "My trust and confident hope will be placed in Him." And again, "Here I am, I and the children whom God has given Me."
MSG
14Since the children are made of flesh and blood, it's logical that the Savior took on flesh and blood in order to rescue them by his death. By embracing death, taking it into himself, he destroyed the Devil's hold on death
AMP
14Therefore, since children share in flesh and blood , He Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same , so that through death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) him who had the power of death—that is, the devil—
MSG
15and freed all who cower through life, scared to death of death.
AMP
15and might free all those who through fear of death were held in slavery throughout their lives.
MSG
16It's obvious, of course, that he didn't go to all this trouble for angels. It was for people like us, children of Abraham.
AMP
16For, as we all know, He (Christ) does not take hold of angels , but He does take hold of descendants of Abraham .
MSG
17That's why he had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people's sins,
AMP
17Therefore, it was essential that He had to be made like His brothers (mankind) in every respect, so that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things related to God, to make atonement (propitiation) for the people's sins .
MSG
18he would have already experienced it all himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed.
AMP
18Because He Himself has suffered in being tempted, He is able to help and provide immediate assistance to those who are being tempted and exposed to suffering.
