1At about the same time, the disciples came to Jesus asking, "Who gets the highest rank in God's kingdom?"

1Naquela hora chegaram-se a Yeshua os talmidim e perguntaram: Quem é o maior no reino dos céus?

2For an answer Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room,

2Yeshua, chamando uma criança, colocou-a no meio deles,

3and said, "I'm telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you're not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in.

3e disse: Amen, e eu vos digo, que se não fizerdes teshuvá e não vos fizerdes como crianças, de modo algum entrareis no reino dos céus.

4Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God's kingdom.

4Portanto, quem se tornar humilde como esta criança, esse é o maior no reino dos céus.

5What's more, when you receive the childlike on my account, it's the same as receiving me.

7Doom to the world for giving these God-believing children a hard time! Hard times are inevitable, but you don't have to make it worse—and it's doomsday to you if you do.

8"If your hand or your foot gets in the way of God, chop it off and throw it away. You're better off maimed or lame and alive than the proud owners of two hands and two feet, godless in a furnace of eternal fire.

9And if your eye distracts you from God, pull it out and throw it away. You're better off one-eyed and alive than exercising your twenty-twenty vision from inside the fire of hell.

10"Watch that you don't treat a single one of these childlike believers arrogantly. You realize, don't you, that their personal angels are constantly in touch with my Father in heaven?

12"Look at it this way. If someone has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders off, doesn't he leave the ninety-nine and go after the one?

12Que vos parece? Se alguém tiver cem ovelhas, e uma delas se extraviar, não deixará as noventa e nove nos montes para ir buscar a que se extraviou?

13And if he finds it, doesn't he make far more over it than over the ninety-nine who stay put?

13E, se acontecer achá-la, Amen, e eu vos digo, que maior prazer tem por esta do que pelas noventa e nove que não se extraviaram.

14Your Father in heaven feels the same way. He doesn't want to lose even one of these simple believers.

14Assim também não é da vontade do Pai de vocês que está nos céus, que venha a morrer um só destes pequeninos.

15"If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him—work it out between the two of you. If he listens, you've made a friend.

15Ora, se teu irmão pecar, vai, e repreende-o entre ti e ele só; se te ouvir, terás ganho teu irmão;

16If he won't listen, take one or two others along so that the presence of witnesses will keep things honest, and try again.

16mas se não te ouvir, leva como testemunha contigo um ou dois, para que pela boca de duas ou três testemunhas toda palavra seja confirmada.

17If he still won't listen, tell the church. If he won't listen to the church, you'll have to start over from scratch, confront him with the need for repentance, and offer again God's forgiving love.

17Se recusar ouvi-los, dize-o à Kehilá; e, se também recusar ouvir a Kehilá, considera-o como goy e coletor de impostos.

18"Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this.

18Amen, Amen, e eu vos digo: Tudo quanto ligardes na terra será ligado no céu; e tudo quanto desligardes na terra será desligado no céu .

19When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action.

19Ainda vos digo mais: Se dois de vós na terra forem dignos de qualquer coisa que pedirem, isso lhes será feito por meu Pai, que está nos céus.

20And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I'll be there."

21At that point Peter got up the nerve to ask, "Master, how many times do I forgive a brother or sister who hurts me? Seven?"

21Então Kefá, chamando-o, lhe perguntou: Senhor, até quantas vezes pecará meu irmão contra mim, e eu hei de perdoar? Até sete?

22Jesus replied, "Seven! Hardly. Try seventy times seven.

22Respondeu-lhe Yeshua: Não te digo que até sete; mas até setenta vezes sete.

23"The kingdom of God is like a king who decided to square accounts with his servants.
NTJUD
23Por isso o reino dos céus é comparado a um rei que quis tomar contas a seus servos;

24As he got under way, one servant was brought before him who had run up a debt of a hundred thousand dollars.

24e, tendo começado a tomá-las, foi-lhe apresentado um que lhe devia dez mil talentos;

25He couldn't pay up, so the king ordered the man, along with his wife, children, and goods, to be auctioned off at the slave market.

25mas não tendo ele com que pagar, ordenou seu senhor que fossem vendidos, ele, sua mulher, seus filhos, e tudo o que tinha, e que se pagasse a dívida.

26"The poor wretch threw himself at the king's feet and begged, 'Give me a chance and I'll pay it all back.'

26Então aquele servo, prostrando-se, o reverenciava, dizendo: Senhor, tem paciência comigo, que tudo te pagarei.

27Touched by his plea, the king let him off, erasing the debt.

27O senhor daquele servo, pois, movido de compaixão, soltou-o, e perdoou-lhe a dívida.

28"The servant was no sooner out of the room when he came upon one of his fellow servants who owed him ten dollars. He seized him by the throat and demanded, 'Pay up. Now!'

28Saindo, porém, aquele servo, encontrou um dos seus companheiros, que lhe devia cem moedas; e, segurando-o, o sufocava, dizendo: Paga o que me deves.

29"The poor wretch threw himself down and begged, 'Give me a chance and I'll pay it all back.'

29Então o seu companheiro, caindo-lhe aos pés, pedia-lhe, dizendo: Tem paciência comigo, que te pagarei.

30But he wouldn't do it. He had him arrested and put in jail until the debt was paid.

30Ele, porém, não quis; antes foi encerrá-lo na prisão, até que pagasse a dívida.

31When the other servants saw this going on, they were outraged and brought a detailed report to the king.

31Vendo, pois, os seus companheiros o que acontecera, contristaram-se grandemente, e foram revelar tudo isso ao seu senhor.

32"The king summoned the man and said, 'You evil servant! I forgave your entire debt when you begged me for mercy.

32Então o seu senhor, chamando-o á sua presença, disse-lhe: Servo de Beliya'al, perdoei-te toda aquela dívida, porque me suplicaste;

33Shouldn't you be compelled to be merciful to your fellow servant who asked for mercy?'
NTJUD
33não devias tu também ter compaixão do teu companheiro, assim como eu tive compaixão de ti?
MSG
34The king was furious and put the screws to the man until he paid back his entire debt.
NTJUD
34E, indignado, o seu senhor o entregou aos carrascos, até que pagasse tudo o que lhe devia.
MSG
35And that's exactly what my Father in heaven is going to do to each one of you who doesn't forgive unconditionally anyone who asks for mercy."

35Assim vos fará meu Pai celestial, se de coração não perdoardes, cada um a seu irmão.
