Sl 106SalmosSl 108
MSG
1Oh, thank God—he's so good! His love never runs out.
AMP
1O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His compassion and lovingkindness endure forever!
MSG
2All of you set free by God, tell the world!Tell how he freed you from oppression,
AMP
2Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,
MSG
3Then rounded you up from all over the place, from the four winds, from the seven seas.
AMP
3And gathered them from the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.
MSG
4Some of you wandered for years in the desert, looking but not finding a good place to live,
AMP
4They wandered in the wilderness in a desert region; And did not find a way to an inhabited city.
MSG
5Half-starved and parched with thirst, staggering and stumbling, on the brink of exhaustion.
AMP
5Hungry and thirsty, They fainted.
MSG
6Then, in your desperate condition, you called out to God.He got you out in the nick of time;
AMP
6Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He rescued them from their distresses.
MSG
7He put your feet on a wonderful roadthat took you straight to a good place to live.
AMP
7He led them by the straight way, To an inhabited city .
MSG
8So thank God for his marvelous love, for his miracle mercy to the children he loves.
AMP
8Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, And for His wonderful acts to the children of men!
MSG
9He poured great draughts of water down parched throats;the starved and hungry got plenty to eat.
AMP
9For He satisfies the parched throat, And fills the hungry appetite with what is good.
MSG
10Some of you were locked in a dark cell, cruelly confined behind bars,
AMP
10Some dwelt in darkness and in the deep (deathly) darkness, Prisoners in misery and chains,
MSG
11Punished for defying God's Word, for turning your back on the High God's counsel—
AMP
11Because they had rebelled against the precepts of God And spurned the counsel of the Most High.
MSG
12A hard sentence, and your hearts so heavy, and not a soul in sight to help.
AMP
12Therefore He humbled their heart with hard labor; They stumbled and there was no one to help.
MSG
13Then you called out to God in your desperate condition;he got you out in the nick of time.
AMP
13Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them from their distresses.
MSG
14He led you out of your dark, dark cell, broke open the jail and led you out.
AMP
14He brought them out of darkness and the deep (deathly) darkness And broke their bonds apart.
MSG
15So thank God for his marvelous love,for his miracle mercy to the children he loves;
AMP
15Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, And for His wonderful acts to the children of men!
MSG
16He shattered the heavy jailhouse doors,he snapped the prison bars like matchsticks!
AMP
16For He has shattered the gates of bronze And cut the bars of iron apart.
MSG
17Some of you were sick because you'd lived a bad life,your bodies feeling the effects of your sin;
AMP
17Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their sins, were afflicted.
MSG
18You couldn't stand the sight of food,so miserable you thought you'd be better off dead.
AMP
18They detested all kinds of food, And they drew near to the gates of death.
MSG
19Then you called out to God in your desperate condition;he got you out in the nick of time.
AMP
19Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them from their distresses.
MSG
20He spoke the word that healed you, that pulled you back from the brink of death.
AMP
20He sent His word and healed them, And rescued them from their destruction.
MSG
21So thank God for his marvelous love,for his miracle mercy to the children he loves;
AMP
21Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, And for His wonderful acts to the children of men!
MSG
22Offer thanksgiving sacrifices, tell the world what he's done—sing it out!
AMP
22And let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And speak of His deeds with shouts of joy!
MSG
23Some of you set sail in big ships;you put to sea to do business in faraway ports.
AMP
23Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters;
MSG
24Out at sea you saw God in action, saw his breathtaking ways with the ocean:
AMP
24They have seen the works of the LORD, And His wonders in the deep.
MSG
25With a word he called up the wind—an ocean storm, towering waves!
AMP
25For He spoke and raised up a stormy wind, Which lifted up the waves of the sea.
MSG
26You shot high in the sky, then the bottom dropped out;your hearts were stuck in your throats.
AMP
26They went up toward the heavens , they went down again to the depths ; Their courage melted away in their misery.
MSG
27You were spun like a top, you reeled like a drunk, you didn't know which end was up.
AMP
27They staggered and trembled like a drunken man, And were at their wits' end .
MSG
28Then you called out to God in your desperate condition;he got you out in the nick of time.
AMP
28Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses.
MSG
29He quieted the wind down to a whisper, put a muzzle on all the big waves.
AMP
29He hushed the storm to a gentle whisper, So that the waves of the sea were still.
MSG
30And you were so glad when the storm died down, and he led you safely back to harbor.
AMP
30Then they were glad because of the calm, And He guided them to their desired haven (harbor).
MSG
31So thank God for his marvelous love, for his miracle mercy to the children he loves.
AMP
31Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, And for His wonderful acts to the children of men!
MSG
32Lift high your praises when the people assemble, shout Hallelujah when the elders meet!
AMP
32Let them exalt Him also in the congregation of the people, And praise Him at the seat of the elders.
MSG
33God turned rivers into wasteland,springs of water into sunbaked mud;
AMP
33He turns rivers into a wilderness, And springs of water into a thirsty ground;
MSG
34Luscious orchards became alkali flatsbecause of the evil of the people who lived there.
AMP
34A productive land into a salt waste, Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
MSG
35Then he changed wasteland into fresh pools of water, arid earth into springs of water,
AMP
35He turns a wilderness into a pool of water And a dry land into springs of water;
MSG
36Brought in the hungry and settled them there;they moved in—what a great place to live!
AMP
36And there He has the hungry dwell, So that they may establish an inhabited city,
MSG
37They sowed the fields, they planted vineyards, they reaped a bountiful harvest.
AMP
37And sow fields and plant vineyards, And produce an abundant harvest.
MSG
38He blessed them and they prospered greatly;their herds of cattle never decreased.
AMP
38Also He blesses them so that they multiply greatly, And He does not let their cattle decrease.
MSG
39But abuse and evil and trouble declined
AMP
39When they are diminished and bowed down (humbled) Through oppression, misery, and sorrow,
MSG
40as he heaped scorn on princes and sent them away.He gave the poor a safe place to live,
AMP
40He pours contempt on princes And makes them wander in a pathless wasteland.
MSG
41treated their clans like well-cared-for sheep.
AMP
41Yet He sets the needy securely on high, away from affliction, And makes their families like a flock.
MSG
42Good people see this and are glad;bad people are speechless, stopped in their tracks.
AMP
42The upright see it and rejoice; But all unrighteousness shuts its mouth.
MSG
43If you are really wise, you'll think this over—it's time you appreciated God's deep love.
AMP
43Who is wise? Let him observe and heed these things; And consider the lovingkindness of the LORD.
