1A David psalm, when he was out in the Judean wilderness.God—you're my God!I can't get enough of you!I've worked up such hunger and thirst for God,traveling across dry and weary deserts.

1O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

2So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open,drinking in your strength and glory.

2So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.

3In your generous love I am really living at last!My lips brim praises like fountains.

3Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.

4I bless you every time I take a breath;My arms wave like banners of praise to you.

4So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.

5I eat my fill of prime rib and gravy;I smack my lips. It's time to shout praises!

11But the king is glad in God;his true friends spread the joy,While small-minded gossipsare gagged for good.
