1Job continued his discourse and said,

1Having waited for Zophar, Job now resumed his defense:

2"As God lives, who has taken away my right and denied me justice, And the Almighty, who has caused bitterness and grief for my soul,

2"God-Alive! He's denied me justice!God Almighty! He's ruined my life!
AMP
3As long as my life is within me, And the breath of God is in my nostrils,
MSG
3But for as long as I draw breath,and for as long as God breathes life into me,

4My lips will not speak unjustly, Nor will my tongue utter deceit.
MSG
4I refuse to say one word that isn't true.I refuse to confess to any charge that's false.

5"Far be it from me that I should admit you are right ; Until I die, I will not remove my integrity from me.
MSG
5There is no way I'll ever agree to your accusations.I'll not deny my integrity even if it costs me my life.
AMP
6"I hold fast my uprightness and my right standing with God and I will not let them go; My heart does not reproach me for any of my days.
MSG
6I'm holding fast to my integrity and not loosening my grip—and, believe me, I'll never regret it.

7"May my enemy be as the wicked, And he who rises up against me be as the unrighteous (unjust).

7"Let my enemy be exposed as wicked!Let my adversary be proven guilty!

8"For what is the hope of the godless, even though he has gained , When God takes his life?
MSG
8What hope do people without God have when life is cut short?when God puts an end to life?

9"Will God hear his cry When trouble and distress come upon him?
MSG
9Do you think God will listen to their cry for helpwhen disaster hits?
AMP
10"Will he take delight in the Almighty? Will he call on God at all times?
MSG
10What interest have they ever shown in the Almighty?Have they ever been known to pray before?
AMP
11"I will teach you regarding the hand (power) of God; I will not conceal what is with the Almighty .
MSG
11"I've given you a clear account of God in action,suppressed nothing regarding God Almighty.
AMP
12"Behold, all of you have seen it; Why then do you act vainly and foolishly ?
MSG
12The evidence is right before you. You can all see it for yourselves,so why do you keep talking nonsense?
AMP
13"This is the portion of a wicked man from God, And the inheritance which tyrants and oppressors receive from the Almighty:
MSG
13"I'll quote your own words back to you:" 'This is how God treats the wicked,this is what evil people can expect from God Almighty:
AMP
14"Though his children are many, they are destined for the sword; And his descendants will not have sufficient bread.
MSG
14Their children—all of them—will die violent deaths;they'll never have enough bread to put on the table.
AMP
15"Those who survive him will be buried because of the plague, And widows will not be able to weep.
MSG
15They'll be wiped out by the plague,and none of the widows will shed a tear when they're gone.
AMP
16"Though he heaps up silver like dust And piles up clothing like clay,
MSG
16Even if they make a lot of moneyand are resplendent in the latest fashions,
AMP
17He may prepare it, but the just will wear it And the innocent will divide the silver.
MSG
17It's the good who will end up wearing the clothesand the decent who will divide up the money.
AMP
18"He builds his house like a spider's web, Like a (temporary) hut which a watchman makes.
MSG
18They build elaborate housesthat won't survive a single winter.
AMP
19"He lies down rich, but never will again; He opens his eyes, and it is gone.
MSG
19They go to bed wealthyand wake up poor.
AMP
20"Terrors overtake him like a flood; A windstorm steals him away in the night.
MSG
20Terrors pour in on them like flash floods—a tornado snatches them away in the middle of the night,
AMP
21"The east wind lifts him up, and he is gone; It sweeps him out of his place.
MSG
21A cyclone sweeps them up—gone!Not a trace of them left, not even a footprint.
AMP
22"For it will hurl at him unsparingly and without compassion; He flees in haste from its power.
MSG
22Catastrophes relentlessly pursue them;they run this way and that, but there's no place to hide—
AMP
23"People will clap their hands at him And hiss him out of his place.
MSG
23Pummeled by the weather,blown to kingdom come by the storm.'
