2She did not listen and heed the voice ; She accepted no correction. She did not trust in the LORD ; She did not draw near to her God .

2No one can tell it anything;it refuses all correction.It does not trust in the LORDor draw near to its God.

3Her officials within her are roaring lions; Her judges are the wolves at evening, They leave nothing for the morning.

3Its leaders are like roaring lionshunting for their victims.Its judges are like ravenous wolves at evening time,who by dawn have left no trace of their prey.

4Her prophets are reckless and treacherous men; Her priests have profaned the sanctuary; They have done violence to the law .

4Its prophets are arrogant liars seeking their own gain.Its priests defile the Temple by disobeying God’s instructions.

5The LORD is righteous within her; He will do no injustice. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He does not fail. But the unjust person knows no shame.

5But the LORD is still there in the city,and he does no wrong.Day by day he hands down justice,and he does not fail.But the wicked know no shame.

6"I have cut off and destroyed nations ; Their corner towers (battlements) are in ruins. I have made their streets desolate So that no one passes by; Their cities are destroyed So that there is no man, there is no inhabitant.

6“I have wiped out many nations,devastating their fortress walls and towers.Their streets are now deserted;their cities lie in silent ruin.There are no survivors —none at all.

7"I said, 'Most certainly you will fear Me; Accept correction.' So Jerusalem's dwelling will not be cut off In accordance with all that I have appointed concerning her , But they were eager to make all their deeds corrupt.

7I thought, ‘Surely they will have reverence for me now!Surely they will listen to my warnings.Then I won’t need to strike again,destroying their homes.’But no, they get up earlyto continue their evil deeds.

8"Therefore wait for Me," declares the LORD, " for the day when I rise up as a witness . For it is My decision and My right to gather the nations, To assemble kingdoms, To pour out on them My indignation, All My burning anger; For all the earth shall be consumed By the fire of My zeal.
