1Enquanto eles estavam falando ao povo, chegaram os sacerdotes, o capitão dos guardas do templo e os saduceus,

1As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them,

2muito incomodados porque os discípulos ensinavam o povo e anunciavam em Jesus a ressurreição dentre os mortos.

2being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

3Então os prenderam e os colocaram na prisão até o dia seguinte, pois já era tarde.

3They laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was now evening.

4Contudo, muitos dos que ouviram a palavra creram, e o número dos homens que creram aumentou para quase cinco mil.

4But many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

5No dia seguinte, reuniram-se em Jerusalém as autoridades, os líderes religiosos e os escribas,

5In the morning, their rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem.

6e também o sumo sacerdote Anás, Caifás, João, Alexandre e todos os parentes do sumo sacerdote.

6Annas the high priest was there, with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and as many as were relatives of the high priest.

7E, colocando-os diante de si, perguntaram-lhes: Com que poder ou em nome de quem fizestes isso?

7When they had stood them in the middle of them, they inquired, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?”

8Então Pedro, cheio do Espírito Santo, lhes disse: Autoridades do povo e vós, líderes religiosos,

8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

9se hoje somos questionados acerca do benefício feito a um doente, e pelo modo como foi curado,

9if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,
AS21
10seja do conhecimento de todos vós e de todo o povo de Israel que, em nome de Jesus Cristo, o Nazareno, aquele a quem crucificastes e a quem Deus ressuscitou dentre os mortos, sim, por meio desse nome, este homem está aqui com boa saúde diante de vós.

10be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you whole.

11Este Jesus é a pedra rejeitada por vós, os construtores, a qual foi colocada como pedra angular.

11He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’

12E não há salvação em nenhum outro, pois debaixo do céu não há outro nome entre os homens pelo qual devamos ser salvos.

12There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”

13Observando a coragem de Pedro e de João, e percebendo que eram homens simples e sem erudição, eles se admiravam; e reconheceram que eles haviam convivido com Jesus.

13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.

14E, vendo com eles, em pé, o homem que havia sido curado, nada tinham para dizer em contrário.

14Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

15Todavia, depois de mandá-los sair do Sinédrio, começaram a debater entre si,

15But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

16dizendo: Que faremos a estes homens? Porque todos os que habitam em Jerusalém sabem que foi feito um sinal evidente por meio deles, e não o podemos negar.

16saying, “What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it.

17Mas, para que isso não se divulgue mais entre o povo, vamos ameaçá-los para que de agora em diante a ninguém mais falem neste nome.

17But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”

18E, chamando-os, ordenaram-lhes expressamente que não falassem nem ensinassem em nome de Jesus.

18They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

19Mas, respondendo, Pedro e João lhes disseram: Julgai se é justo diante de Deus dar ouvidos a vós e não a Deus,

19But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, judge for yourselves,

20pois não podemos deixar de falar das coisas que vimos e ouvimos.

20for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard.”

21Mas eles os ameaçaram ainda mais e, não achando motivo para castigá-los, soltaram-nos por causa do povo. Porque todos glorificavam a Deus pelo que acontecera;

21When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

22pois o homem em quem se operara a cura miraculosa tinha mais de quarenta anos.

22For the man on whom this miracle of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

23Depois de soltos, foram para os seus companheiros e lhes contaram tudo o que os principais sacerdotes e líderes religiosos lhes haviam falado.

23Being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.

24Ao ouvirem isso, todos juntos elevaram a voz a Deus, dizendo: Senhor, tu que fizeste o céu, a terra, o mar e tudo o que neles há;

24When they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, “O Lord, you are God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them;

25que, pelo Espírito Santo, disseste pela boca de nosso pai Davi, teu servo: Por que os gentios se enfureceram, e os povos imaginaram coisas vãs?

25who by the mouth of your servant, David, said, ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

26Os reis da terra levantaram-se, e as autoridades aliaram-se contra o Senhor e contra o seu Ungido.

26The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.’

27Pois, nesta cidade, eles de fato se aliaram contra o teu santo Servo Jesus, a quem ungiste; não só Herodes, mas também Pôncio Pilatos com os gentios e os povos de Israel;

27“For truly, in this city against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together

28para fazer tudo o que a tua mão e a tua vontade predeterminaram que se fizesse.

28to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.

29Agora pois, ó Senhor, olha para as suas ameaças e concede aos teus servos que falem a tua palavra com toda coragem,

29Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness,

30enquanto estendes a mão para curar e para realizar sinais e feitos extraordinários pelo nome de teu santo Servo Jesus.

30while you stretch out your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy Servant Jesus.”

31E, quando terminaram de orar, o lugar em que estavam reunidos tremeu. Todos ficaram cheios do Espírito Santo e passaram a anunciar com coragem a palavra de Deus.

31When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

32A multidão dos que criam estava unida de coração e de propósito; ninguém afirmava ser sua alguma coisa que possuísse, mas tudo era compartilhado por todos.

32The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

33E com grande poder os apóstolos davam testemunho da ressurreição do Senhor Jesus, e em todos havia imensa graça.

33With great power, the apostles gave their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Great grace was on them all.

34Pois não existia nenhum necessitado entre eles; porque todos os que possuíam terras ou casas, vendendo-as, traziam o valor do que vendiam e o depositavam aos pés dos apóstolos.

34For neither was there among them any who lacked, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,

35E se repartia a qualquer um que tivesse necessidade.

35and laid them at the apostles’ feet, and distribution was made to each, according as anyone had need.

37possuindo um terreno, vendeu-o, trouxe o dinheiro e colocou-o aos pés dos apóstolos.
