1No terceiro ano de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, uma palavra foi revelada a Daniel, cujo nome é Beltessazar, uma palavra verdadeira sobre um grande conflito; e ele entendeu esta palavra e teve entendimento da visão.

1In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, even a great warfare: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

2Naqueles dias, eu, Daniel, estava chorando por três semanas inteiras.

2In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three whole weeks.

3Não comi nada agradável, nem carne nem vinho entraram na minha boca, nem me ungi com óleo, até que se cumpriram as três semanas completas.

3I ate no pleasant bread, neither came meat nor wine into my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, until three whole weeks were fulfilled.

5Levantei os olhos, olhei e vi um homem vestido de linho e com um cinto de ouro fino de Ufaz;

5I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, whose thighs were adorned with pure gold of Uphaz:

6seu corpo era como o berilo, e seu rosto como um relâmpago; seus olhos eram como tochas de fogo, e seus braços e seus pés como o brilho de bronze polido; e a voz das suas palavras como a voz de uma multidão.

6his body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches, and his arms and his feet like burnished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

7Só eu, Daniel, vi aquela visão; os homens que estavam comigo não a viram: apesar disso, caiu sobre eles um grande temor, e eles fugiram para se esconder.

7I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men who were with me didn’t see the vision; but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves.

8Eu fiquei sozinho contemplando a grande visão, e senti-me enfraquecido; meu rosto ficou pálido, e não retive força alguma.

8So I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.

9Entretanto, ouvi a voz das suas palavras; e, ouvindo o som das suas palavras, fiquei em transe, com o rosto em terra.

9Yet heard I the voice of his words; and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I fallen into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.

10Então vi uma mão que me tocou e me levantou; os meus joelhos e mãos tremiam.

10Behold, a hand touched me, which set me on my knees and on the palms of my hands.

11Ele me disse: Daniel, homem muito amado, entende as palavras que vou te dizer e levanta-te, pois fui enviado a ti. Depois que ele me disse isso, eu me coloquei em pé, tremendo.

11He said to me, Daniel, you man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright; for am I now sent to you. When he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling.

12Então ele me disse: Não temas, Daniel, porque as tuas palavras foram ouvidas desde o primeiro dia em que aplicaste o coração a compreender e a humilhar-te diante do teu Deus, e eu vim por causa das tuas palavras.

12Then he said to me, Don’t be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard: and I have come for your words’ sake.

13Mas o príncipe do reino da Pérsia me resistiu por vinte e um dias; e Miguel, um dos maiores príncipes, veio em meu auxílio, e eu o deixei ali com os reis da Pérsia.

13But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; but, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me: and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

14Agora vim para te fazer entender o que acontecerá ao teu povo nos últimos dias, pois a visão se refere a dias ainda distantes.

14Now I have come to make you understand what shall happen to your people in the latter days; for the vision is yet for many days:

15Quando ele me disse isso, prostrei-me com o rosto em terra e fiquei mudo.

15and when he had spoken to me according to these words, I set my face toward the ground, and was mute.

16E um ser parecido com um homem me tocou os lábios; então abri a boca e falei, e disse àquele que estava em pé diante de mim: Senhor meu, estou aflito e desfaleço por causa da visão.

16Behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him who stood before me, my lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows are turned on me, and I retain no strength.

17Como pode o teu servo falar com o meu Senhor? Eu já não tenho forças nem fôlego.

17For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, immediately there remained no strength in me, neither was there breath left in me.

18Então o ser que parecia um homem voltou a me tocar e me reanimou.

18Then there touched me again one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me.
AS21
19E disse: Não temas, homem muito amado! Paz seja contigo! Sê forte e tem bom ânimo. E quando ele falou comigo, fiquei fortalecido e disse: Fala, meu senhor, pois me fortaleceste.

19He said, “Greatly beloved man, don’t be afraid: peace be to you, be strong, yes, be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak; for you have strengthened me.”

20Ele ainda disse: Sabes por que eu vim a ti? Agora tornarei a lutar contra o príncipe dos persas; e, quando eu sair, o príncipe da Grécia virá.

20Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I go out, behold, the prince of Greece shall come.

21Contudo, eu te declararei o que está escrito no livro da verdade; e ninguém me auxiliará contra aqueles, senão Miguel, vosso príncipe.

21But I will tell you that which is inscribed in the writing of truth: and there is no one who holds with me against these, but Michael your prince.”
