1No segundo ano de seu reinado, Nabucodonosor teve sonhos. Isso lhe perturbou muito o espírito, e ele perdeu o sono.

1In the second year (604 b.c.) of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams which troubled and disturbed his spirit and his ability to sleep.

2Então o rei mandou chamar os magos, os adivinhos, os feiticeiros e os astrólogos, para que lhe dissessem os seus sonhos; eles vieram e se apresentaram diante do rei.

2Then the king gave a command to call the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.

3E o rei lhes disse: Tive um sonho, e estou aflito para saber o que significa.

3The king said to them, "I had a dream, and my spirit is troubled and anxious to know the dream."

4Os astrólogos disseram ao rei em aramaico: Ó rei, vive eternamente. Conta o sonho a teus servos, e daremos a interpretação.

4Then the Chaldeans said to the king in Aramaic, "O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation."

5O rei lhes respondeu: Este é o meu decreto: se não me contardes o sonho e sua interpretação, sereis despedaçados, e as vossas casas se tornarão um monte de entulho.

5The king replied to the Chaldeans, "My command is firm and unchangeable: if you do not reveal to me the dream along with its interpretation, you shall be cut into pieces and your houses shall be made a heap of rubbish.

6Mas se me revelardes o sonho e sua interpretação, recebereis de mim presentes, recompensas e grande honra. Portanto, dizei-me o sonho e sua interpretação.

6"But if you tell the dream along with its interpretation, you shall receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So tell me the dream and its interpretation."

7Mas eles responderam pela segunda vez: Conte o rei o sonho a seus servos, e daremos a interpretação.

7They answered again, "Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will explain its interpretation ."

8O rei respondeu: Sei muito bem que quereis ganhar tempo, porque sabeis o que decretei.
AMP
8The king replied, "I know for certain that you are bargaining for time, because you have seen that my command is firm and irrevocable.
AS21
9Se não me contardes o sonho, recebereis a mesma sentença, pois preparastes palavras mentirosas e más para dizer na minha presença, até que as coisas mudem. Portanto, contai-me o sonho, para que eu saiba que sois capazes de interpretá-lo.

9If you will not reveal to me the dream, there is but one sentence for you; for you have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me until the situation is changed. Therefore, tell me the dream , and then I will know that you can give me its interpretation."

10Os astrólogos responderam diante do rei: Não há ninguém sobre a terra que possa cumprir a determinação do rei. Nenhum rei, por grande e poderoso que fosse, jamais exigiu de um mago, adivinho ou astrólogo algo parecido com isso.

10The Chaldeans answered the king and said, "There is not a man on earth who can tell the king this matter, for no king, lord or ruler has ever asked such a thing as this of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean.

11O que o rei exige é difícil, e ninguém é capaz de declará-lo ao rei, senão os deuses, que não moram junto aos mortais.

11Furthermore, what the king demands is an unusual and difficult thing indeed! No one except the gods can reveal it to the king, and their dwelling is not with flesh."

12Então o rei se irou muito e se enfureceu, e ordenou que matassem todos os sábios da Babilônia.

12Because of this the king was indignant and extremely furious and gave a command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

13E saiu o decreto, segundo o qual deviam ser mortos os sábios. Daniel e seus companheiros foram procurados para serem mortos.

13So the decree went out that the wise men were to be killed; and they looked for Daniel and his companions to put them to death.

14Quando Arioque, capitão da guarda real, saiu para matar os sábios da Babilônia, Daniel se dirigiu a ele de modo sensato e prudente.

14Then Daniel replied with discretion and wisdom to Arioch, the captain of the king's bodyguard, who had gone out to execute the wise men of Babylon;

15Ele disse a Arioque, oficial do rei: Por que o decreto do rei é tão urgente? Então Arioque explicou o caso a Daniel.

15he said to Arioch, the king's captain, "Why is the decree from the king so harsh and urgent?" Then Arioch explained the matter to Daniel.

16Diante disso, Daniel se apresentou ao rei e pediu que lhe desse um prazo para revelar ao rei a interpretação.

16So Daniel went in and asked the king to appoint a date and give him time, so that he might reveal to the king the interpretation of the dream.

17Então Daniel voltou para casa e contou o caso a seus companheiros, Hananias, Misael e Azarias,

17Then Daniel returned to his house and discussed the matter with Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions,

18para que pedissem misericórdia ao Deus do céu sobre aquele mistério, a fim de que Daniel e seus companheiros não fossem mortos juntamente com os outros sábios da Babilônia.

18in order that they might seek compassion from the God of heaven regarding this secret, so that Daniel and his companions would not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

19Então o mistério foi revelado a Daniel numa visão, de noite. Daniel louvou o Deus do céu.

19Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night, and Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

20Daniel disse: Seja bendito o nome de Deus para todo o sempre, porque a sabedoria e a força pertencem a ele.

20Daniel answered, "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him.

21Ele muda os tempos e as estações; remove e estabelece os reis; é ele quem dá sabedoria aos sábios e entendimento aos que conhecem.

21"It is He who changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding!

22Ele revela o profundo e o escondido; conhece o que está em trevas, e a luz mora com ele.

22"It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him.
AS21
23Ó Deus de meus pais, a ti dou graças e louvor porque me deste sabedoria e força; e agora me revelaste o que te pedimos; pois nos revelaste este assunto do rei.

23"I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers, For You have given me wisdom and power; Even now You have made known to me what we requested of You, For You have made known to us the king's matter."

24Então Daniel foi falar com Arioque, a quem o rei havia constituído para matar os sábios da Babilônia. Ele entrou e disse-lhe: Não mates os sábios da Babilônia; leva-me à presença do rei, e lhe darei a interpretação.

24So Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he went and said this to him: "Do not execute the wise men of Babylon! Bring me before the king, and I will reveal to the king the interpretation ."

25Então Arioque levou Daniel depressa à presença do rei e disse-lhe assim: Achei entre os exilados de Judá um homem que revelará ao rei a interpretação.

25Then Arioch hurriedly brought Daniel before the king and said this to him: "I have found a man among the exiles of Judah who can explain to the king the interpretation ."

26O rei respondeu a Daniel, cujo nome era Beltessazar: Podes me revelar o sonho que tive e a sua interpretação?

26The king said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, "Are you able to reveal to me the dream which I have seen and its interpretation?"

27E, na presença do rei, Daniel respondeu: O mistério que o rei exigiu, nem sábios, nem adivinhos, nem magos, nem prognosticadores lhe podem revelar,

27Daniel answered the king and said, "Regarding the mystery about which the king has inquired, neither the wise men, enchanters, magicians, nor astrologers are able to answer the king,

28mas há um Deus no céu que revela os mistérios. Ele revelou ao rei Nabucodonosor o que acontecerá nos últimos dias. O sonho e as visões que tiveste quando estavas deitado são estes:

28but there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will take place in the latter days (end of days). This was your dream and the vision in your mind while on your bed.

29Ó rei, quando estavas deitado, o teu pensamento se voltou às coisas futuras. Aquele que revela os mistérios te revelou o que acontecerá.

29"As for you, O king, as you were lying on your bed thoughts came into your mind about what will take place in the future; and He who reveals secrets has shown you what will occur.

30E a mim foi revelado esse mistério, não por ter eu mais sabedoria entre os que vivem, mas para que a interpretação fosse revelada ao rei, e para que entendesses os pensamentos do teu coração.

30But as for me, this secret has not been revealed to me because my wisdom is greater than that of any other living man, but in order to make the interpretation known to the king, and so that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.

31Ó rei, tu viste uma grande estátua em tua visão. Essa estátua, imensa e impressionante, estava em pé diante de ti, e tinha uma aparência terrível.

31"You, O king, were looking, and behold, a single great statue; this image, which was large and of unsurpassed splendor, stood before you, and its appearance was awesome and terrifying.

32A cabeça da estátua era de ouro fino; o peito e os braços, de prata; o ventre e o quadril, de bronze;

32As for this statue, its head was made of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze,

33as pernas, de ferro; e os pés, em parte de ferro e em parte de barro.

33its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay .

34Enquanto estavas vendo isso, uma pedra soltou-se sem auxílio de mãos e feriu a estátua nos pés de ferro e de barro, e os esmigalhou.

34As you were looking, a stone was cut out without hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and crushed them.
AS21
35Então o ferro, o barro, o bronze, a prata e o ouro foram despedaçados e viraram pó, como a palha das eiras no verão. O vento os levou sem deixar nenhum vestígio; porém a pedra que feriu a estátua se tornou uma grande montanha e encheu toda a terra.

35Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together and became like the chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them could be found. And the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

36Este é o sonho. Agora diremos ao rei a interpretação.

36"This was the dream; now we will tell the king its interpretation.

37Ó rei, tu és rei de reis, a quem o Deus do céu tem dado o reino, o poder, a força e a glória;

37You, O king, are the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength and the glory;
AS21
38e em cuja mão ele entregou os homens, onde quer que habitem, os animais do campo e as aves do céu, e te fez reinar sobre todos eles; tu és a cabeça de ouro.

38and wherever the sons of men dwell, and the beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens, He has given them into your hand and has made you ruler over them all. You are the head of gold.

39Depois de ti, se levantará outro reino, inferior ao teu; e um terceiro reino, de bronze, o qual terá domínio sobre toda a terra.

39After you will arise another kingdom (Medo-Persia) inferior to you, and then a third kingdom of bronze (Greece under Alexander the Great), which will rule over all the earth.

40E haverá um quarto reino, forte como ferro, pois o ferro esmigalha e quebra tudo; assim como o ferro quebra todas as coisas, ele quebrará e destruirá.

40Then a fourth kingdom (Rome) will be strong as iron, for iron breaks to pieces and shatters all things; and like iron which crushes things in pieces, it will break and crush all these .

41Quanto ao que viste dos pés e dos dedos, em parte de barro de oleiro, e em parte de ferro, esse será um reino dividido; mas haverá nele alguma coisa da firmeza do ferro, como viste o ferro misturado com barro.

41And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but there will be in it some of the durability and strength of iron, just as you saw the iron mixed with common clay.

42E como os dedos dos pés eram em parte de ferro e em parte de barro, assim uma parte o reino será forte e a outra será frágil.

42As the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so some of the kingdom will be strong, and another part of it will be brittle.

43Quanto ao que viste do ferro misturado com barro, haverá mistura por casamento, mas não se ligarão um ao outro, como o ferro não se mistura com o barro.

43And as you saw the iron mixed with common clay, so they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not merge , even as iron does not mix with clay.

44Mas, durante o reinado desses reis, o Deus do céu levantará um reino que não será jamais destruído. A soberania desse reino não passará a outro povo, mas ele destruirá e consumirá todos esses reinos, e subsistirá para sempre.

44In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will its sovereignty be left for another people; but it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it will stand forever.

45Como viste que uma pedra soltou-se do monte, sem auxílio de mãos, e esmigalhou o ferro, o bronze, o barro, a prata e o ouro, o grande Deus revela ao rei o que acontecerá no futuro. Certo é o sonho, e fiel a sua interpretação.

45Just as you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold, the great God has revealed to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy."

46Então o rei Nabucodonosor caiu com o rosto em terra e reverenciou Daniel, e ordenou que lhe trouxessem uma oferta de cereal e incenso.

46Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell face downward and paid respect to Daniel , and gave orders for an offering and fragrant incense to be presented to him .

47O rei respondeu a Daniel: Verdadeiramente, o vosso Deus é Deus dos deuses, e o Senhor dos reis, e o revelador dos mistérios, pois pudeste revelar este mistério.

47The king answered Daniel and said, "Most certainly your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery!"

48Então o rei exaltou Daniel e lhe deu muitos presentes especiais, e o pôs por governador de toda a província da Babilônia, e também o fez chefe principal de todos os sábios da Babilônia.

48Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.

49A pedido de Daniel, o rei nomeou Sadraque, Mesaque e Abednego como superintendentes dos negócios da província da Babilônia; mas Daniel permaneceu na corte real.

49And Daniel made a request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego over the affairs of the province of Babylon, while Daniel was at the court of the king.
