1Pareceu bem a Dario nomear no reino cento e vinte sátrapas para governar todo o reino;

1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred twenty satraps, who should be throughout the whole kingdom;

2e, acima deles, três superiores, dos quais Daniel era um; a fim de que esses sátrapas lhes dessem conta e que o rei não sofresse dano.

2and over them three presidents, of whom Daniel was one; that these satraps might give account to them, and that the king should have no damage.

3Então o mesmo Daniel se destacou entre esses superiores e sátrapas, porque havia nele um espírito extraordinário; e o rei pensava nomeá-lo para governar todo o reino.

3Then this Daniel was distinguished above the presidents and the satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

4Enquanto isso, os superiores e os sátrapas procuravam um motivo para acusar Daniel em sua administração do reino, mas não conseguiam encontrar motivo ou falta alguma, porque ele era fiel, e não havia nenhum erro nem falta nele.

4Then the presidents and the satraps sought to find occasion against Daniel as touching the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault, because he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

5Esses homens disseram: Nunca encontraremos motivo algum contra esse Daniel, a menos que o procuremos no que diz respeito à lei do seu Deus.

5Then these men said, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

6Então os presidentes e os sátrapas foram juntos ao rei e disseram-lhe assim: Ó rei Dario, vive para sempre.

6Then these presidents and satraps assembled together to the king, and said thus to him, King Darius, live forever.

7Todos os superiores do reino, os prefeitos e os sátrapas, os conselheiros e os governadores, concordaram em que o rei deveria baixar um decreto, uma determinação real, de que, por um período de trinta dias, todo aquele que fizer uma petição a qualquer deus, ou a qualquer homem, exceto a ti, ó rei, seja lançado na cova dos leões.

7All the presidents of the kingdom, the deputies and the satraps, the counselors and the governors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a strong decree, that whoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

8Ó rei, agora emite o decreto e assina o edital, para que não seja mudado, conforme a lei dos medos e dos persas, que não se pode revogar.

8Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it not be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which doesn’t alter.

9Em virtude disso, o rei Dario assinou o edital do decreto.

9Therefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

10Quando Daniel soube que o edital estava assinado, entrou em casa, no seu quarto, em cima, onde estavam abertas as janelas que davam para o lado de Jerusalém, e, como antes costumava fazer três vezes ao dia, ajoelhou-se, orou e deu graças diante do seu Deus.

10When Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his room toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled on his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before.

11Então aqueles homens foram juntos e encontraram Daniel orando e suplicando diante do seu Deus.

11Then these men assembled together, and found Daniel making petition and supplication before his God.

12Assim, foram à presença do rei e lhe perguntaram sobre o decreto real: Ó rei, acaso não assinaste um decreto pelo qual, por um período de trinta dias, todo aquele que fizesse uma petição a qualquer deus ou a qualquer homem, exceto a ti, fosse lançado na cova dos leões? O rei respondeu: Certamente o decretei, conforme a lei dos medos e dos persas, que não se pode revogar.

12Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king’s decree: Haven’t you signed a decree that every man who makes a petition to any god or man within thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which doesn’t alter.

13Então responderam ao rei, dizendo-lhe: Ó rei, esse Daniel, um dos exilados de Judá, não tem feito caso de ti nem do decreto que assinaste; ao contrário, faz a sua oração três vezes por dia.

13Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, doesn’t respect you, O king, nor the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.

14Ouvindo a notícia, o rei ficou consternado e resolveu livrar Daniel; e esforçou-se para salvá-lo até o pôr do sol.

14Then the king, when he heard these words, was very displeased, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored until the going down of the sun to rescue him.

15Então aqueles homens foram juntos ao rei e lhe disseram: Ó rei, fica sabendo que é lei dos medos e persas que nenhuma determinação ou decreto que o rei estabelecer pode ser mudado.

15Then these men assembled together to the king, and said to the king, Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no decree nor statute which the king establishes may be changed.

16Então o rei deu ordem, e trouxeram Daniel e o lançaram na cova dos leões. O rei disse a Daniel: O teu Deus, a quem serves continuamente, te livrará.

16Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. The king spoke and said to Daniel, Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you.

17Uma pedra foi trazida e posta sobre a boca da cova; e o rei a selou com seu anel e com o anel dos seus nobres, para que nada fosse mudado com respeito a Daniel.

17A stone was brought, and laid on the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel.

18Depois o rei se dirigiu a seu palácio e passou a noite em jejum, e não foram trazidos à sua presença instrumentos de música; e o rei perdeu o sono.

18Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting; neither were instruments of music brought before him: and his sleep fled from him.

19Ao romper do dia, o rei se levantou e foi depressa à cova dos leões.

19Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste to the den of lions.

20Quando chegou à cova, chamou por Daniel com voz triste; e disse o rei a Daniel: Ó Daniel, servo do Deus vivo, acaso o teu Deus, a quem serves continuamente, pôde livrar-te dos leões?

20When he came near to the den to Daniel, he cried with a lamentable voice; the king spoke and said to Daniel, Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?

21Então Daniel falou ao rei: Ó rei, vive para sempre.

21Then Daniel said to the king, O king, live forever.
AS21
22O meu Deus enviou seu anjo e fechou a boca dos leões, e eles não me fizeram mal algum, porque foi achada inocência em mim diante dele; e também diante de ti não cometi delito algum, ó rei.

22My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me; because as before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O king, I have done no hurt.

23Então o rei se alegrou muito e mandou tirar Daniel da cova. Assim, Daniel foi tirado da cova, e não acharam ferimento algum nele, porque havia confiado em seu Deus.

23Then was the king exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

24E, por ordem do rei, os homens que haviam acusado Daniel foram trazidos e lançados na cova dos leões juntamente com seus filhos e suas mulheres; e antes de chegarem ao fundo da cova, os leões se apoderaram deles e lhes esmigalharam todos os ossos.

24The king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions mauled them, and broke all their bones in pieces, before they came to the bottom of the den.

25Então o rei Dario escreveu a todos os povos, nações e línguas que moram em toda a terra: Paz vos seja multiplicada.

25Then king Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.

26Promulgo um decreto pelo qual, em todo o domínio do meu reino, os homens tremam e temam diante do Deus de Daniel, pois ele é o Deus vivo, e permanece para sempre; e o seu reino nunca será destruído; o seu domínio durará para sempre.

26I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he is the living God, and steadfast forever, His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed; and his dominion shall be even to the end.

27Ele livra e salva, e faz sinais e maravilhas no céu e na terra. Foi ele quem livrou Daniel do poder dos leões.

27He delivers and rescues, and he works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

28Esse Daniel prosperou no reinado de Dario, e no reinado de Ciro, o persa.

28So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
