1Então o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Eu te constituí como Deus para o faraó, e Arão, teu irmão, será o teu profeta.

1God told Moses, "Look at me. I'll make you as a god to Pharaoh and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.

2Falarás tudo o que eu mandar; e Arão, teu irmão, dirá ao faraó que deixe os israelitas saírem de sua terra.
MSG
2You are to speak everything I command you, and your brother Aaron will tell it to Pharaoh. Then he will release the Israelites from his land.

3Eu, porém, endurecerei o coração do faraó e multiplicarei os meus sinais e as minhas maravilhas na terra do Egito.

3At the same time I am going to put Pharaoh's back up and follow it up by filling Egypt with signs and wonders.

4Mas o faraó não vos ouvirá; colocarei minha mão sobre o Egito e tirarei daquela terra os meus agrupamentos, o meu povo, os israelitas, com grandes feitos de juízo.

4Pharaoh is not going to listen to you, but I will have my way against Egypt and bring out my soldiers, my people the Israelites, from Egypt by mighty acts of judgment.

5The Egyptians will realize that I am God when I step in and take the Israelites out of their country."

6Moses and Aaron did exactly what God commanded.

7Moses was eighty and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.

8Then God spoke to Moses and Aaron. He said,

9Quando o faraó vos disser: Apresentai algum milagre; dirás a Arão: Toma a tua vara e lança-a diante do faraó, para que se transforme em serpente.

9"When Pharaoh speaks to you and says, 'Prove yourselves. Perform a miracle,' then tell Aaron, 'Take your staff and throw it down in front of Pharaoh: It will turn into a snake.' "

10Então Moisés e Arão foram falar com o faraó e fizeram como o SENHOR havia ordenado. Arão lançou sua vara diante do faraó e diante dos seus subordinados, e ela se transformou numa serpente.

10Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did what God commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his servants, and it turned into a snake.

11O faraó, porém, mandou vir os sábios e feiticeiros; e eles, os magos do Egito, também fizeram o mesmo por meio do seu ocultismo.

11Pharaoh called in his wise men and sorcerers. The magicians of Egypt did the same thing by their incantations:

12Cada um deles lançou a sua vara, e elas se transformaram em serpentes; mas a vara de Arão devorou as deles.

12each man threw down his staff and they all turned into snakes. But then Aaron's staff swallowed their staffs.

13Todavia, o coração do faraó se endureceu, e ele não os atendeu, como o SENHOR tinha dito.

13Yet Pharaoh was as stubborn as ever—he wouldn't listen to them, just as God had said.

14Então o SENHOR disse a Moisés: O coração do faraó está obstinado; ele se recusa a deixar o povo ir.

14God said to Moses: "Pharaoh is a stubborn man. He refuses to release the people.

15Pela manhã, vai falar com o faraó; ele estará junto às águas. Fica à beira do rio para encontrá-lo e leva contigo a vara que se transformou em serpente.

15First thing in the morning, go and meet Pharaoh as he goes down to the river. At the shore of the Nile take the staff that turned into a snake

16E lhe dirás: O SENHOR, o Deus dos hebreus, enviou-me a ti para dizer-te: Deixa o meu povo ir, para que me cultue no deserto. Até agora não o tens atendido.

16and say to him, 'God, the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you with this message, "Release my people so that they can worship me in the wilderness." So far you haven't listened.

17Assim diz o SENHOR: Assim saberás que eu sou o SENHOR. Com esta vara que tenho na mão, vou ferir as águas do rio, e elas se transformarão em sangue.

17This is how you'll know that I am God. I am going to take this staff that I'm holding and strike this Nile River water: The water will turn to blood;

18Os peixes que estão no rio morrerão, e o rio cheirará mal; e os egípcios terão nojo de beber da água do rio.
MSG
18the fish in the Nile will die; the Nile will stink; and the Egyptians won't be able to drink the Nile water.' "

19O SENHOR disse a Moisés: Dize a Arão: Toma a tua vara e estende a mão sobre as águas do Egito, sobre os seus rios, sobre os seus canais, sobre as suas lagoas e sobre todos os seus açudes, para que se transformem em sangue; e haverá sangue por toda a terra do Egito, até nas vasilhas de madeira e de pedra.

19God said to Moses, "Tell Aaron, 'Take your staff and wave it over the waters of Egypt—over its rivers, its canals, its ponds, all its bodies of water—so that they turn to blood.' There'll be blood everywhere in Egypt—even in the pots and pans."

20Moisés e Arão fizeram como o SENHOR havia ordenado. Arão levantou a vara e feriu as águas do rio, diante dos olhos do faraó e de seus subordinados; e todas as águas do rio se transformaram em sangue.

20Moses and Aaron did exactly as God commanded them. Aaron raised his staff and hit the water in the Nile with Pharaoh and his servants watching. All the water in the Nile turned into blood.

21Então, os peixes que estavam no rio morreram, e o rio cheirou tão mal que os egípcios não conseguiam beber da sua água. Havia sangue por toda a terra do Egito.

21The fish in the Nile died; the Nile stank; and the Egyptians couldn't drink the Nile water. The blood was everywhere in Egypt.

22Mas os magos do Egito fizeram o mesmo por meio do seu ocultismo. Assim, o coração do faraó se endureceu, e não os atendeu, como o SENHOR tinha dito.

22But the magicians of Egypt did the same thing with their incantations. Still Pharaoh remained stubborn. He wouldn't listen to them as God had said.

23O faraó deu-lhes as costas e foi para o palácio, sem dar atenção ao caso.

23He turned on his heel and went home, never giving it a second thought.

24Então, todos os egípcios cavaram às margens do rio para achar água para beber, pois era impossível beber da água do rio.

24But all the Egyptians had to dig inland from the river for water because they couldn't drink the Nile water.

25E passaram-se sete dias, depois que o SENHOR feriu o rio.

25Seven days went by after God had struck the Nile.
