1O SENHOR visitou Sara, conforme havia falado, e fez-lhe como havia prometido.

1God visited Sarah exactly as he said he would; God did to Sarah what he promised:

2Sara engravidou e deu um filho a Abraão em sua velhice, no tempo determinado, sobre o qual Deus lhe havia falado.
MSG
2Sarah became pregnant and gave Abraham a son in his old age, and at the very time God had set.

3Abraão pôs o nome de Isaque no filho que lhe nasceu, que Sara lhe tinha dado.
MSG
3Abraham named him Isaac.

4E quando Isaque tinha oito dias, Abraão circuncidou seu filho, conforme Deus lhe ordenara.

4When his son was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him just as God had commanded.

5Abraão tinha cem anos, quando lhe nasceu Isaque, seu filho.

5Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born.

6Por isso, Sara disse: Deus deu-me razão para rir; todo aquele que ouvir sobre isso rirá comigo.

6Sarah said,God has blessed me with laughterand all who get the news will laugh with me!

7E acrescentou: Quem diria a Abraão que Sara haveria de amamentar filhos? No entanto, dei-lhe um filho na sua velhice.

7She also said,Whoever would have suggested to Abrahamthat Sarah would one day nurse a baby!Yet here I am! I've given the old man a son!

8O menino cresceu e foi desmamado; e Abraão deu um grande banquete no dia em que Isaque desmamou.

8The baby grew and was weaned. Abraham threw a big party on the day Isaac was weaned.

9E Sara viu que o filho que Agar, a egípcia, tinha dado a Abraão estava zombando de Isaque.

9One day Sarah saw the son that Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham, poking fun at her son Isaac.

10Pelo que disse a Abraão: Manda embora essa serva e o seu filho; porque o filho dessa serva não será herdeiro com meu filho Isaque.

10She told Abraham, "Get rid of this slave woman and her son. No child of this slave is going to share inheritance with my son Isaac!"

11Isso pareceu muito desagradável aos olhos de Abraão, por causa de seu filho.

11The matter gave great pain to Abraham—after all, Ishmael was his son.
AS21
12Porém Deus disse a Abraão: Não considere isso muito desagradável aos teus olhos por causa do menino e por causa da tua serva. Atende à voz de Sara em tudo o que te diz, porque a tua descendência será reconhecida por meio de Isaque.

12But God spoke to Abraham, "Don't feel badly about the boy and your maid. Do whatever Sarah tells you. Your descendants will come through Isaac.

13Mas também farei uma nação do filho dessa serva, porque ele também é da tua descendência.
MSG
13Regarding your maid's son, be assured that I'll also develop a great nation from him—he's your son too."

14Então Abraão levantou-se de manhã cedo e, tomando pão e um cantil cheio d'água, deu-os a Agar, pondo-os sobre o ombro dela. Entregou-lhe também o menino e mandou-a embora. Ela partiu e foi andando errante pelo deserto de Berseba.

14Abraham got up early the next morning, got some food together and a canteen of water for Hagar, put them on her back and sent her away with the child. She wandered off into the desert of Beersheba.

15Quando a água do cantil acabou, Agar deitou o menino debaixo de um arbusto

15When the water was gone, she left the child under a shrub

16e foi sentar-se em frente dele, a boa distância, cerca de um tiro de arco, porque dizia: Não quero ver o menino morrer. Então, sentada em frente dele, levantou a voz e chorou.

16and went off, fifty yards or so. She said, "I can't watch my son die." As she sat, she broke into sobs.

17Mas Deus ouviu a voz do menino; e o anjo de Deus chamou Agar desde o céu e disse-lhe: Que tens, Agar? Não temas, porque Deus ouviu a voz do menino desde o lugar onde ele está.

17Meanwhile, God heard the boy crying. The angel of God called from Heaven to Hagar, "What's wrong, Hagar? Don't be afraid. God has heard the boy and knows the fix he's in.

18Levanta-te, pega o menino e toma-o pela mão, porque farei dele uma grande nação.
MSG
18Up now; go get the boy. Hold him tight. I'm going to make of him a great nation."

19E Deus abriu-lhe os olhos, e ela viu um poço. Então foi encher o cantil de água e deu de beber ao menino.

19Just then God opened her eyes. She looked. She saw a well of water. She went to it and filled her canteen and gave the boy a long, cool drink.

20Deus estava com o menino, que cresceu e se tornou flecheiro, morando no deserto.
MSG
20God was on the boy's side as he grew up. He lived out in the desert and became a skilled archer.

21Ele habitou no deserto de Parã, e sua mãe providenciou-lhe uma mulher da terra do Egito.

21He lived in the Paran wilderness. And his mother got him a wife from Egypt.

22Naquela mesma ocasião, Abimeleque, juntamente com Ficol, chefe do seu exército, falou a Abraão: Deus está contigo em tudo o que fazes.

22At about that same time, Abimelech and the captain of his troops, Phicol, spoke to Abraham: "No matter what you do, God is on your side.

23Agora, jura-me aqui por Deus que não agirás falsamente comigo, nem com meu filho, nem com o filho do meu filho; mas tratarás a mim e à terra onde viveste por algum tempo com a mesma bondade com que te tratei.

23So swear to me that you won't do anything underhanded to me or any of my family. For as long as you live here, swear that you'll treat me and my land as well as I've treated you."

24E Abraão respondeu: Eu juro.
MSG
24Abraham said, "I swear it."

25Mas Abraão censurou Abimeleque, por causa de um poço de água que os servos de Abimeleque lhe haviam tomado à força.
MSG
25At the same time, Abraham confronted Abimelech over the matter of a well of water that Abimelech's servants had taken.
AS21
26E Abimeleque respondeu-lhe: Não sei quem fez isso, nunca o contaste a mim; nunca ouvi falar disso, senão hoje.
MSG
26Abimelech said, "I have no idea who did this; you never told me about it; this is the first I've heard of it."
AS21
27Abraão tomou ovelhas e bois, e deu-os a Abimeleque; e assim fizeram uma aliança.
MSG
27So the two of them made a covenant. Abraham took sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelech.

28Porém Abraão separou sete cordeiras do rebanho.
MSG
28Abraham set aside seven sheep from his flock.
AS21
29E Abimeleque perguntou a Abraão: Que significam estas sete cordeiras que separaste?
MSG
29Abimelech said, "What does this mean? These seven sheep you've set aside."
AS21
30Abraão respondeu: Receberás estas sete cordeiras da minha mão para que me sirvam de testemunho de que eu cavei este poço.
MSG
30Abraham said, "It means that when you accept these seven sheep, you take it as proof that I dug this well, that it's my well."
AS21
31Por isso aquele lugar foi chamado Berseba, porque ali os dois juraram.
MSG
31That's how the place got named Beersheba (the Oath-Well), because the two of them swore a covenant oath there.

32E assim fizeram uma aliança em Berseba. Depois disso, Abimeleque e Ficol, chefe do seu exército, levantaram-se e voltaram para a terra dos filisteus.

32After they had made the covenant at Beersheba, Abimelech and his commander, Phicol, left and went back to Philistine territory.

33Abraão plantou uma tamargueira em Berseba, e ali invocou o nome do SENHOR, o Deus eterno.

33Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and worshiped God there, praying to the Eternal God.

34E Abraão viveu muitos dias na terra dos filisteus.

34Abraham lived in Philistine country for a long time.
