2No sétimo dia, Deus já havia completado a obra que fizera; nesse dia ele descansou de toda a sua obra.

2By the seventh dayGod had finished his work.On the seventh dayhe rested from all his work.

3E Deus abençoou e santificou o sétimo dia, porque nele descansou de toda a obra que havia criado e feito.

5Quando o SENHOR Deus fez a terra e os céus, ainda não havia nenhuma planta do campo na terra e nenhuma erva do campo havia brotado, pois o SENHOR Deus ainda não havia feito chover sobre a terra, nem havia homem para lavrar a terra.

5At the time God made Earth and Heaven, before any grasses or shrubs had sprouted from the ground—God hadn't yet sent rain on Earth, nor was there anyone around to work the ground

6Todavia, mananciais subiam da terra e regavam toda a superfície do solo.

7E o SENHOR Deus formou o homem do pó da terra e soprou-lhe nas narinas o fôlego da vida; e o homem tornou-se alma vivente.

7God formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man came alive—a living soul!

8Então o SENHOR Deus plantou um jardim, para o lado do oriente, no Éden; e colocou ali o homem que havia formado.

8Then God planted a garden in Eden, in the east. He put the Man he had just made in it.

9E o SENHOR Deus fez brotar do solo todo tipo de árvore agradável à vista e boa para alimento, bem como a árvore da vida no meio do jardim, e a árvore do conhecimento do bem e do mal.

9God made all kinds of trees grow from the ground, trees beautiful to look at and good to eat. The Tree-of-Life was in the middle of the garden, also the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil.

10Do Éden saía um rio que regava o jardim; ele se dividia dali, formando quatro braços.

10A river flows out of Eden to water the garden and from there divides into four rivers.

11O nome do primeiro é Pisom: este é o que contorna toda a terra de Havilá, onde há ouro;

11The first is named Pishon; it flows through Havilah where there is gold.

12o ouro dessa terra é bom; ali existem o bdélio e a pedra de berilo.

12The gold of this land is good. The land is also known for a sweet-scented resin and the onyx stone.

13O nome do segundo rio é Giom: este é o que contorna toda a terra de Cuxe.

13The second river is named Gihon; it flows through the land of Cush.

14O nome do terceiro rio é Tigre: este é o que corre pelo oriente da Assíria. E o quarto rio é o Eufrates.

14The third river is named Hiddekel and flows east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.

15E o SENHOR Deus tomou o homem e o colocou no jardim do Éden, para que o homem o cultivasse e guardasse.

15God took the Man and set him down in the Garden of Eden to work the ground and keep it in order.

16Então o SENHOR Deus ordenou ao homem: Podes comer livremente de qualquer árvore do jardim,

16God commanded the Man, "You can eat from any tree in the garden,

17mas não comerás da árvore do conhecimento do bem e do mal; porque no dia em que dela comeres, com certeza morrerás.

17except from the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil. Don't eat from it. The moment you eat from that tree, you're dead."

18Disse mais o SENHOR Deus: Não é bom que o homem esteja só; eu lhe farei uma ajudadora que lhe seja adequada.

18God said, "It's not good for the Man to be alone; I'll make him a helper, a companion."

19E o SENHOR Deus formou da terra todos os animais do campo e todas as aves do céu, e os trouxe ao homem, para ver como lhes chamaria; e o nome que o homem desse a cada ser vivo, esse seria o nome deles.

19So God formed from the dirt of the ground all the animals of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the Man to see what he would name them. Whatever the Man called each living creature, that was its name.

20Assim o homem deu nomes a todo o gado, às aves do céu e a todos os animais do campo; mas não se achava uma ajudadora adequada para o homem.

20The Man named the cattle, named the birds of the air, named the wild animals; but he didn't find a suitable companion.

21Então o SENHOR Deus fez cair um sono pesado sobre o homem, e este adormeceu; tomou-lhe, então, uma das costelas e fechou a carne em seu lugar;

21God put the Man into a deep sleep. As he slept he removed one of his ribs and replaced it with flesh.

22e da costela que o SENHOR Deus lhe havia tomado, formou a mulher e a trouxe ao homem.

22God then used the rib that he had taken from the Man to make Woman and presented her to the Man.

23Então disse o homem: Esta é agora osso dos meus ossos e carne da minha carne; ela será chamada mulher, porquanto do homem foi tomada.

23The Man said,"Finally! Bone of my bone,flesh of my flesh!Name her Womanfor she was made from Man."

24Portanto, o homem deixará seu pai e sua mãe e se unirá à sua mulher, e eles serão uma só carne.
MSG
24Therefore a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh.
AS21
25E os dois estavam nus, o homem e sua mulher, e não se envergonhavam.

25The two of them, the Man and his Wife, were naked, but they felt no shame.
