1Then Job answered,

2Até quando afligireis a minha alma e me atormentareis com palavras?

2“How long will you torment me, and crush me with words?

3Já me humilhastes dez vezes; não vos envergonhais de me maltratar?
WEB
3You have reproached me ten times. You aren’t ashamed that you attack me.
AS21
4Embora, na verdade, eu tenha errado, o meu erro permanece.

4If it is true that I have erred, my error remains with myself.

5Se vós, de fato, vos quereis orgulhar contra mim, e me incriminar na minha humilhação,

5If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach;

6sabei então que foi Deus quem transtornou a minha causa, cercando-me com a sua rede.

6know now that God has subverted me, and has surrounded me with his net.

7Eu clamo: Violência! mas não sou ouvido; grito: Socorro! mas não há justiça.

7“Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard. I cry for help, but there is no justice.

8Ele fechou o meu caminho com muros, e já não posso passar; escureceu as minhas veredas.

8He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass, and has set darkness in my paths.

9Privou-me da minha honra, e tirou-me a coroa da cabeça.

9He has stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

10Quebrou-me de todos os lados, tanto que estou prestes a morrer; arrancou a minha esperança, como quem arranca uma árvore.

10He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone. My hope he has plucked up like a tree.

11Acende a sua ira contra mim, e considera-me como um adversário.

11He has also kindled his wrath against me. He counts me among his adversaries.

12Juntas, suas tropas avançam, levantam um cerco contra mim e se acampam ao redor da minha tenda.

12His troops come on together, build a siege ramp against me, and encamp around my tent.

13Ele levou os meus irmãos para longe de mim, e os que me conhecem tornaram-se como estranhos para mim.

13“He has put my brothers far from me. My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.

14Os meus parentes se afastam, e os meus conhecidos se esquecem de mim.

14My relatives have gone away. My familiar friends have forgotten me.

15Os que me visitam e também as minhas servas me consideram estrangeiro; sou como um estranho aos seus olhos.

15Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.

16Chamo o meu servo, e ele não me responde; minha boca tem que lhe suplicar.

16I call to my servant, and he gives me no answer. I beg him with my mouth.

17O meu hálito é intolerável para a minha mulher; sou repugnante para os filhos de minha mãe.

17My breath is offensive to my wife. I am loathsome to the children of my own mother.

18Até os pequeninos me desprezam; quando chego, fazem comentários a meu respeito.

18Even young children despise me. If I arise, they speak against me.

19Todos os meus amigos chegados me rejeitam, e até os que eu amava se voltaram contra mim.

19All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me.

20Os meus ossos se colaram à minha pele e à minha carne, e escapei só com a pele dos meus dentes.

20My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

21Tende compaixão de mim, meus amigos; tende compaixão de mim, pois a mão de Deus me atingiu.

21“Have pity on me, have pity on me, you my friends; for the hand of God has touched me.

22Por que me perseguis como o próprio Deus, e não vos fartais da minha carne?

22Why do you persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

23Ah! Antes as minhas palavras fossem escritas! Ah! Antes fossem gravadas num livro!

23“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!

24Quisera eu elas fossem para sempre esculpidas na rocha, com pena de ferro, com chumbo!

24That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever!

25Eu sei que o meu Redentor vive e que por fim se levantará sobre a terra.

25But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth.

26Depois, destruído o meu corpo, então fora da carne verei Deus.

26After my skin is destroyed, then in my flesh shall I see God,

27Eu o verei ao meu lado, e os meus olhos o contemplarão, não mais como adversário. O meu coração desfalece dentro de mim!

27Whom I, even I, shall see on my side. My eyes shall see, and not as a stranger. “My heart is consumed within me.

28Se disserdes: Como haveremos de persegui-lo já que a causa deste mal nele está,

28If you say, ‘How we will persecute him!’ because the root of the matter is found in me,

29temei a espada, pois a ira traz os castigos da espada, para saberdes que há um juízo.

29be afraid of the sword, for wrath brings the punishments of the sword, that you may know there is a judgment.”
