1Prosseguindo Jó em seu discurso, disse:

1Job took up his theme again and said:

2Tão certo como vive Deus, que me tirou o direito, e o Todo-poderoso, que me amargurou a alma;

2As God lives, who takes away my right, the Almighty, who has made my life bitter,
AS21
3enquanto eu tiver alento, e o sopro de Deus estiver nas minhas narinas,
NABRE
3So long as I still have life breath in me,the breath of God in my nostrils,
AS21
4os meus lábios não falarão maldade, nem a minha língua pronunciará engano.
NABRE
4My lips shall not speak falsehood,nor my tongue utter deceit!

5Longe de mim eu vos dar razão; até que eu morra, nunca me afastarei da minha integridade.
NABRE
5Far be it from me to account you right;till I die I will not renounce my innocence.
AS21
6Eu me apegarei à minha justiça e não a largarei; o meu coração não reprova nenhum dia da minha vida.
NABRE
6My justice I maintain and I will not relinquish it;my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.

7Seja o meu inimigo como o ímpio, e como o perverso o meu opositor.
NABRE
7t Let my enemy be as the wickedand my adversary as the unjust!
AS21
8Pois qual será a esperança do ímpio, quando Deus o cortar, quando Deus lhe tirar a alma?
NABRE
8For what hope has the impious when he is cut off,when God requires his life?
AS21
9Por acaso Deus ouvirá o seu clamor, quando chegar a tribulação?
NABRE
9Will God then listen to his crywhen distress comes upon him,
AS21
10Ele se deleitará no Todo-poderoso, ou invocará a Deus em todo o tempo?
NABRE
10If he delights in the Almightyand calls upon God constantly?
AS21
11Eu vos ensinarei acerca do poder de Deus; não vos encobrirei o que está com o Todo-poderoso.
NABRE
11I will teach you what is in God's hand,and the way of the Almighty I will not conceal.

12Todos vós já vistes isso; por que vos entregais completamente às palavras inúteis?
NABRE
12Look, you yourselves have all seen it;why do you spend yourselves in empty words!

13Esta é a porção que Deus dá ao ímpio, a herança que os opressores recebem do Todo-poderoso:

13This is the portion of the wicked with God,the heritage oppressors receive from the Almighty:

14Se os seus filhos se multiplicarem, será isso para a espada; e a sua prole não se fartará de alimento.
NABRE
14Though his children be many, the sword awaits them.His descendants shall want for bread.

15Os seus descendentes que sobreviverem morrerão pela peste, e as suas viúvas não chorarão.

15His survivors shall be buried in death;their widows shall not weep.

16Embora amontoe prata como pó, e acumule roupas como barro,

16Though he heap up silver like dustand store away mounds of clothing,
AS21
17o justo vestirá as que ele acumular, e o inocente repartirá a prata.
NABRE
17What he has stored the righteous shall wear,and the innocent shall divide the silver.

18A casa que ele constrói é como a teia da aranha, como a cabana que o guarda faz.
NABRE
18He builds his house as of cobwebs,or like a booth put up by a watchman.
AS21
19Rico se deita, mas logo não o será mais; abre os olhos, e sua riqueza já se foi.
NABRE
19He lies down a rich man, one last time;he opens his eyes—nothing is there.
AS21
20Pavores o alcançam como um dilúvio; a tempestade o arrebata de noite.
NABRE
20Terrors flood over him like water,at night the tempest carries him off.
AS21
21O vento oriental o leva, e ele se vai; sim, varre-o com ímpeto do seu lugar.
NABRE
21The east wind seizes him and he is gone;it sweeps him from his place;
AS21
22Pois atira contra ele sem poupá-lo, e ele, de forma precipitada, foge do seu poder.
NABRE
22It hurls itself at him without pity,as he tries to flee from its power.
AS21
23Bate palmas contra ele, e do seu lugar assobia contra ele.
NABRE
23It claps its hands at him,and whistles at him from its place.
