1Não fareis ídolos, nem levantareis imagem esculpida, nem coluna, nem poreis na vossa terra pedra com figuras, para vos inclinardes a ela; porque eu sou o SENHOR vosso Deus.

1"Don't make idols for yourselves; don't set up an image or a sacred pillar for yourselves, and don't place a carved stone in your land that you can bow down to in worship. I am God, your God.

2Guardareis os meus sábados e reverenciareis o meu santuário. Eu sou o SENHOR.

2"Keep my Sabbaths; treat my Sanctuary with reverence. I am God.

3Se andardes nos meus estatutos e guardardes os meus mandamentos e os cumprirdes,

3"If you live by my decrees and obediently keep my commandments,

4eu vos darei chuvas no tempo certo, a terra dará seu produto e as árvores do campo darão seus frutos.

4I will send the rains in their seasons, the ground will yield its crops and the trees of the field their fruit.

5A debulha continuará até a colheita, e a colheita, até a semeadura. Comereis o vosso pão com fartura e habitareis seguros na vossa terra.

5You will thresh until the grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting time; you'll have more than enough to eat and will live safe and secure in your land.

7You'll chase out your enemies and defeat them:

8Cinco de vós perseguirão cem inimigos, e cem de vós perseguirão dez mil; e os vossos inimigos cairão à espada diante de vós.

8Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand and do away with them.

9Eu me voltarei para vós e vos farei frutificar, e vos multiplicarei, e confirmarei a minha aliança convosco.

9I'll give you my full attention: I'll make sure you prosper, make sure you grow in numbers, and keep my covenant with you in good working order.

10E comereis da colheita antiga, guardada por longo tempo, até que tenhais de removê-la para dar lugar à nova.

10You'll still be eating from last year's harvest when you have to clean out the barns to make room for the new crops.

11Estabelecerei o meu tabernáculo no meio de vós, e não sereis uma abominação para mim.

11"I'll set up my residence in your neighborhood; I won't avoid or shun you;

12Andarei no meio de vós e serei o vosso Deus, e vós sereis o meu povo.

12I'll stroll through your streets. I'll be your God; you'll be my people.

13Eu sou o SENHOR vosso Deus, que vos tirei da terra dos egípcios, para que não fôsseis seus escravos; quebrei as traves do vosso jugo e vos fiz andar de cabeça erguida.

13I am God, your personal God who rescued you from Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians. I ripped off the harness of your slavery so that you can move about freely.

14"But if you refuse to obey me and won't observe my commandments,

15despising my decrees and holding my laws in contempt by your disobedience, making a shambles of my covenant,

16então, com certeza, eu vos farei isto: colocarei sobre vós o terror, a tuberculose e a febre ardente, que consumirão os olhos e farão definhar a vida. Semeareis a vossa semente em vão, pois os vossos inimigos a comerão.

16I'll step in and pour on the trouble: debilitating disease, high fevers, blindness, your life leaking out bit by bit. You'll plant seed but your enemies will eat the crops.

17Voltarei o meu rosto contra vós, e sereis feridos diante de vossos inimigos; os que vos odiarem vos dominarão, e fugireis sem que ninguém vos persiga.

17I'll turn my back on you and stand by while your enemies defeat you. People who hate you will govern you. You'll run scared even when there's no one chasing you.

18Se mesmo assim não me ouvirdes, eu vos castigarei sete vezes mais, por causa dos vossos pecados.

18"And if none of this works in getting your attention, I'll discipline you seven times over for your sins.

19Pois quebrarei a arrogância do vosso poder, e farei que o céu seja para vós como ferro, e a terra, como bronze.

19I'll break your strong pride: I'll make the skies above you like a sheet of tin and the ground under you like cast iron.

20Gastareis a vossa força em vão, porque a vossa terra não dará seu produto, e as árvores da terra não darão seus frutos.

20No matter how hard you work, nothing will come of it: No crops out of the ground, no fruit off the trees.

21Se insistirdes em me contrariar e não quiserdes me ouvir, trarei sobre vós sete vezes mais pragas, conforme vossos pecados.

21"If you defy me and refuse to listen, your punishment will be seven times more than your sins:

22Enviarei animais ferozes para o meio de vós, que matarão vossos filhos, destruirão o vosso gado e vos reduzirão a um número tão pequeno, que os vossos caminhos ficarão desertos.

22I'll set wild animals on you; they'll rob you of your children, kill your cattle, and decimate your numbers until you'll think you are living in a ghost town.

23Se nem assim quiserdes voltar para mim, mas insistirdes em me contrariar,

23"And if even this doesn't work and you refuse my discipline and continue your defiance,

24eu também vos contrariarei; e eu mesmo vos ferirei sete vezes mais, por causa dos vossos pecados.

24then it will be my turn to defy you. I, yes I, will punish you for your sins seven times over:

25Trarei sobre vós a espada, que executará a vingança da aliança, e buscareis refúgio nas vossas cidades. Então enviarei a peste entre vós, e sereis entregues na mão do inimigo.

25I'll let war loose on you, avenging your breaking of the covenant; when you huddle in your cities for protection, I'll send a deadly epidemic on you and you'll be helpless before your enemies;

26Quando eu interromper o vosso sustento de pão, dez mulheres assarão o vosso pão num só forno, e o devolverão racionado; e comereis, mas não vos fartareis.

26when I cut off your bread supply, ten women will bake bread in one oven and ration it out. You'll eat, but barely—no one will get enough.

27Se mesmo assim não me ouvirdes, mas insistirdes em me contrariar,

27"And if this—even this!—doesn't work and you still won't listen, still defy me,

28também eu vos contrariarei com furor; e vos castigarei sete vezes mais, por causa dos vossos pecados.

28I'll have had enough and in hot anger will defy you, punishing you for your sins seven times over:

29E comereis a carne de vossos filhos e de vossas filhas.

29famine will be so severe that you'll end up cooking and eating your sons in stews and your daughters in barbecues;
AS21
30Destruirei os vossos altares das colinas, derrubarei as vossas imagens do sol e lançarei os vossos cadáveres sobre os destroços dos vossos ídolos; e sereis uma abominação para mim.

30I'll smash your sex-and-religion shrines and all the paraphernalia that goes with them, and then stack your corpses and the idol-corpses in the same piles—I'll abhor you;

31Reduzirei as vossas cidades a deserto, assolarei os vossos santuários e não sentirei mais o vosso aroma agradável.

31I'll turn your cities into rubble; I'll clean out your sanctuaries; I'll hold my nose at the "pleasing aroma" of your sacrifices.

32Devastarei a terra, e os vossos inimigos que ali forem habitar ficarão estarrecidos.

32I'll turn your land into a lifeless moonscape—your enemies who come in to take over will be shocked at what they see.

33Eu vos espalharei por entre as nações e vos perseguirei com a espada desembainhada. A vossa terra será devastada, e as vossas cidades se tornarão um deserto.

33I'll scatter you all over the world and keep after you with the point of my sword in your backs. There'll be nothing left in your land, nothing going on in your cities.

34Então a terra usufruirá dos seus sábados, todos os dias da sua devastação, e vós estareis na terra dos vossos inimigos. Nesse tempo, a terra descansará e usufruirá dos seus sábados.

34With you gone and dispersed in the countries of your enemies, the land, empty of you, will finally get a break and enjoy its Sabbath years.

35All the time it's left there empty, the land will get rest, the Sabbaths it never got when you lived there.

36E, quanto aos que restarem de vós, eu lhes encherei o coração de pavor nas terras dos seus inimigos; e o ruído de uma folha agitada pelo vento os porá em fuga. Fugirão como quem foge da espada e cairão sem que ninguém os persiga;

36"As for those among you still alive, I'll give them over to fearful timidity—even the rustle of a leaf will throw them into a panic. They'll run here and there, back and forth, as if running for their lives even though no one is after them,

37sim, embora não haja quem os persiga, tropeçarão uns sobre os outros como perseguidos pela espada, e não podereis resistir aos vossos inimigos.

37tripping and falling over one another in total confusion. You won't stand a chance against an enemy.

38Assim, morrereis entre as nações, e a terra dos vossos inimigos vos devorará.

38You'll perish among the nations; the land of your enemies will eat you up.

39E os que restarem entre vós definharão nas terras dos vossos inimigos, por causa do seu pecado e do pecado de seus pais.

39Any who are left will slowly rot away in the enemy lands. Rot. And all because of their sins, their sins compounded by their ancestors' sins.

40Então confessarão seu pecado e o pecado de seus pais, e as suas transgressões que praticaram contra mim; e confessarão que insistiram em me contrariar,

40"On the other hand, if they confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors, their treacherous betrayal, the defiance

41e que eu também os contrariei e os levei para a terra dos seus inimigos. Então, se o seu coração incircunciso se humilhar, e aceitarem o castigo do seu pecado,

41that set off my defiance that sent them off into enemy lands; if by some chance they soften their hard hearts and make amends for their sin,

42eu me lembrarei da minha aliança com Jacó, da minha aliança com Isaque e da minha aliança com Abraão; e também me lembrarei da terra.

42I'll remember my covenant with Jacob, I'll remember my covenant with Isaac, and, yes, I'll remember my covenant with Abraham. And I'll remember the land.

43A terra também será deixada por eles e descansará nos seus sábados, sendo devastada por causa deles. E receberão o castigo do seu pecado, porque rejeitaram meus preceitos e desprezaram meus estatutos.

43"The land will be empty of them and enjoy its Sabbaths while they're gone. They'll pay for their sins because they refused my laws and treated my decrees with contempt.

44Mesmo assim, quando estiverem na terra dos seus inimigos, não os rejeitarei nem os detestarei a ponto de destruí-los totalmente e de quebrar a minha aliança com eles, porque eu sou o SENHOR, seu Deus.

44But in spite of their behavior, while they are among their enemies I won't reject or abhor or destroy them completely. I won't break my covenant with them: I am God, their God.

45Pelo contrário, por amor deles me lembrarei da aliança com seus antepassados, que tirei da terra do Egito diante dos olhos das nações, para ser o Deus deles. Eu sou o SENHOR.

45For their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors whom I, with all the nations watching, brought out of Egypt in order to be their God. I am God."

46São esses os estatutos, os preceitos e as leis que o SENHOR firmou entre si e os israelitas, no monte Sinai, por meio de Moisés.

46These are the decrees, laws, and instructions that God established between himself and the People of Israel through Moses at Mount Sinai.
