1Quando Jesus desceu do monte, grandes multidões o seguiam.

1When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

2Então veio um leproso e, ajoelhando-se, disse: Senhor, se quiseres, podes purificar-me.

2Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.”

3Jesus estendeu a mão e o tocou, dizendo: Quero; sê purificado. No mesmo instante ele foi purificado da lepra.

3Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

4Então Jesus lhe disse: Olha, não contes isso a ninguém; mas vai mostrar-te ao sacerdote e apresenta a oferta que Moisés estipulou, para que lhes sirva de testemunho.

4Jesus said to him, “See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

5Assim que Jesus entrou em Cafarnaum, um centurião aproximou-se dele rogando:

5When he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him,

6Senhor, o meu servo está em casa, deitado, paralítico e sofrendo horrivelmente.

6and saying, “Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented.”

7Jesus lhe disse: Eu irei e o curarei.

7Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

8O centurião, porém, lhe respondeu: Senhor, não sou digno de que entres debaixo do meu teto; mas somente dize uma palavra, e o meu servo será curado.

8The centurion answered, “Lord, I’m not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

9Pois eu também sou homem sujeito à autoridade e tenho soldados às minhas ordens; e digo a este: Vai, e ele vai; e a outro: Vem, e ele vem; e ao meu servo: Faze isto, e ele faz.

9For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and tell another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and tell my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

10Ouvindo isso, Jesus ficou admirado e disse aos que o seguiam: Em verdade vos digo que não encontrei ninguém com tamanha fé em Israel.

10When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, “Most certainly I tell you, I haven’t found so great a faith, not even in Israel.

11Também vos digo que muitos virão do oriente e do ocidente e se sentarão à mesa de Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, no reino do céu;

11I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven,

12mas os cidadãos do reino serão lançados nas trevas exteriores; ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes.

12but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

13Então disse Jesus ao centurião: Vai, e te seja feito conforme creste. E naquela mesma hora o seu servo foi curado.

13Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed.” His servant was healed in that hour.

14Assim que Jesus entrou na casa de Pedro, viu a sogra deste de cama, com febre.

14When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.

15Ele tocou a sua mão, e a febre a deixou; então ela se levantou e passou a servi-lo.

15He touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up and served him.

16Ao cair da tarde, trouxeram-lhe muitos endemoninhados; e com a sua palavra ele expulsou os espíritos e curou todos os enfermos;

16When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick;

17para que se cumprisse o que havia sido falado pelo profeta Isaías: Ele tomou sobre si as nossas enfermidades e carregou as nossas doenças.

17that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.”

18Quando viu uma multidão ao seu redor, Jesus deu ordem de partir para o outro lado do mar.

18Now when Jesus saw great multitudes around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side.

19E um escriba, aproximando-se, disse-lhe: Mestre, eu te seguirei aonde quer que fores.

19A scribe came, and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

20Jesus lhe respondeu: As raposas têm tocas, e as aves do céu, ninhos; mas o Filho do homem não tem onde descansar a cabeça.

20Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

21E outro de seus discípulos lhe disse: Senhor, permite que antes eu vá sepultar meu pai.

21Another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”

22Jesus, porém, respondeu-lhe: Segue-me e deixa os mortos sepultarem seus próprios mortos.

22But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

23Depois que entrou no barco, seus discípulos o seguiram.

23When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him.

24E levantou-se no mar tão grande tempestade, que o barco estava sendo coberto pelas ondas; Jesus, porém, estava dormindo.

24Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep.

25Os discípulos se aproximaram e o despertaram, dizendo: Salva-nos, Senhor! Vamos morrer.

25They came to him, and woke him up, saying, “Save us, Lord! We are dying!”
AS21
26Ele lhes respondeu: Por que temeis, homens de pequena fé? Então Jesus se levantou e repreendeu os ventos e o mar, e houve grande calmaria.

26He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.

27E aqueles homens se admiraram, dizendo: Quem é este que até os ventos e o mar lhe obedecem?

27The men marveled, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

28Quando Jesus chegou ao outro lado do mar, à terra dos gadarenos, dois endemoninhados foram ao seu encontro, vindos dos sepulcros. Eles eram tão perigosos que ninguém podia passar por aquele caminho.

28When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way.

29E gritaram: Que temos nós contigo, Filho de Deus? Vieste aqui nos atormentar antes do tempo devido?

29Behold, they cried out, saying, “What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”

30A alguma distância deles, uma grande manada de porcos estava pastando.

30Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them.

31E os demônios rogavam-lhe, dizendo: Se nos expulsas, manda-nos entrar naquela manada de porcos.

31The demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs.”

32E Jesus lhes disse: Ide. Então eles saíram e entraram nos porcos; e toda a manada se precipitou pelo despenhadeiro no mar e morreu nas águas.

32He said to them, “Go!” They came out, and went into the herd of pigs: and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea, and died in the water.

33Os que cuidavam da manada fugiram e, chegando à cidade, divulgaram todas essas coisas e o que acontecera aos endemoninhados.

33Those who fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, including what happened to those who were possessed with demons.

34E toda a cidade saiu ao encontro de Jesus; e, vendo-o, rogaram-lhe que se retirasse daquela região.

34Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged that he would depart from their borders.
