13¿Por qué contiendes con Él? Porque Él no da cuenta de ninguno de sus actos.

13So how dare you haul him into court,and then complain that he won't answer your charges?

14Aunque Dios habla de una manera, y aun de dos, Pero nadie lo percibe:

14God always answers, one way or another,even when people don't recognize his presence.

15En sueño, en visión nocturna, cuando el sopor cae sobre los hombres, Mientras dormitan en el lecho,

16God opens their earsand impresses them with warnings

17Para apartar al hombre de su mala° obra, Y destruir del varón la soberbia,°

17To turn them back from something bad they're planning,from some reckless choice,

18Para librar su alma del sepulcro, Y su vida de que perezca a cuchillo.

18And keep them from an early grave,from the river of no return.

19También sobre su lecho es corregido con dolores, Con la agonía incesante de sus miembros,

19"Or, God might get their attention through pain,by throwing them on a bed of suffering,

20Hasta que su alma llega a aborrecer el pan, Y su garganta el manjar más delicado.

20So they can't stand the sight of food,have no appetite for their favorite treats.

21Su carne se consume, hasta que no se ve, Y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen,

21They lose weight, wasting away to nothing,reduced to a bag of bones.

22Su alma se acerca a la fosa, Y su vida a los que causan la muerte.

22They hang on the cliff-edge of death,knowing the next breath may be their last.

23Si tuviera cerca de él algún elocuente mediador muy escogido, Que anuncie al hombre su deber,

24A messenger who would mercifully intervene,canceling the death sentence with the words:'I've come up with the ransom!'

25Before you know it, you're healed,the very picture of health!

26Invocaría a Dios, y Éste le sería propicio, Para que vea su rostro con gritos de júbilo, Y restauraría° al hombre su justicia.

26"Or, you may fall on your knees and pray—to God's delight!You'll see God's smile and celebrate,finding yourself set right with God.

27Cantaría entre los hombres diciendo: ¡Pequé y pervertí lo recto, Pero no me fue tomado en cuenta!°

27You'll sing God's praises to everyone you meet,testifying, 'I messed up my life—and let me tell you, it wasn't worth it.

28¡Ha redimido mi alma para que no baje al sepulcro, Y mi vida ya ve la luz!

28But God stepped in and saved me from certain death.I'm alive again! Once more I see the light!'
