10Entretanto, Deus procurou em mim motivos para quebrar nossa amizade; hoje ele me considera seu inimigo!

10But God keeps picking on me;he treats me like I'm his enemy.

11Ele acorrenta os meus pés; vigia com censura todas as minhas atitudes.’

11He's thrown me in jail;he keeps me under constant surveillance.'

12Contudo, eu afirmo: nisso tu não tens razão, porque Deus é maior que o homem.

13Sendo assim, não contendeis alegando que Deus não responde aos questionamentos humanos!

13So how dare you haul him into court,and then complain that he won't answer your charges?

14Entretanto, a verdade é que Deus fala, ora de uma maneira, ora de outra.

14God always answers, one way or another,even when people don't recognize his presence.

15Deus fala sim, em sonho ou em visão durante as noites, quando o sono profundo cai sobre todos nós e adormecemos em nossas camas.

15"In a dream, for instance, a vision at night,when men and women are deep in sleep,fast asleep in their beds—

16Ele pode falar aos ouvidos dos homens e aterrorizá-los com advertências,

20So they can't stand the sight of food,have no appetite for their favorite treats.

23Se em sua companhia estiver um Anjo, um intercessor, um mediador entre mil, para declarar ao homem o que é justo e verdadeiro a seu respeito,

23"But even then an angel could come,a champion—there are thousands of them!—to take up your cause,

24para lhe ser favorável e declarar: “Livra-o de baixar à sepultura agora, porquanto encontrei resgate para sua vida!”

24A messenger who would mercifully intervene,canceling the death sentence with the words:'I've come up with the ransom!'

25Sua carne se renovará e será como na infância e ele voltará a ser como no tempo de juventude.

25Before you know it, you're healed,the very picture of health!

26Ele orará a Deus e será contemplado com o favor do Altíssimo, que lhe permitirá ver a face de Deus com júbilo, e restituirá ao homem a sua condição de justo.

27You'll sing God's praises to everyone you meet,testifying, 'I messed up my life—and let me tell you, it wasn't worth it.

28Mas Deus livrou a minha alma da cova, e a minha vida continuará desfrutando da luz!”

28But God stepped in and saved me from certain death.I'm alive again! Once more I see the light!'
