1Entonces toda la congregación levantó la voz y clamó, y el pueblo lloró aquella noche.

1All the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

2Y murmuraron contra Moisés y Aarón todos los hijos de Israel; y les dijo toda la congregación: ¡Ojalá hubiéramos muerto en la tierra de Egipto! ¡ Ojalá hubiéramos muerto en este desierto!

2All the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, “We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!

3¿Y por qué nos trae el SEÑOR a esta tierra para caer a espada? Nuestras mujeres y nuestros hijos vendrán a ser presa. ¿No sería • mejor que • nos volviéramos a Egipto?

3Why does Yahweh bring us to this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be captured or killed! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return into Egypt?”

4Y se • decían unos a otros: Nombremos un jefe y volvamos a Egipto.

4They said to one another, “Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.”

5Entonces Moisés y Aarón cayeron sobre sus rostros en presencia de toda la asamblea de la congregación de los hijos de Israel.

5Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

6Y Josué, hijo de Nun, y Caleb, hijo de Jefone, que • eran • de los que habían reconocido la tierra, rasgaron sus vestidos;

6Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes.

7y hablaron a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, diciendo: La tierra por la que pasamos para reconocerla es • una tierra buena en gran manera.

7They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, “The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land.

8Si el SEÑOR se agrada de nosotros, nos llevará a esa tierra y nos la dará; es • una tierra que mana leche y miel.

8If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us; a land which flows with milk and honey.

9Sólo que no os rebeléis contra el SEÑOR, ni tengáis miedo de la gente de la tierra, pues serán presa nuestra. Su protección les ha sido quitada, y el SEÑOR está • con nosotros; no les tengáis miedo.

9Only don’t rebel against Yahweh, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Don’t fear them.”

10Pero toda la congregación dijo que los apedrearan. Entonces la gloria del SEÑOR apareció en la tienda de reunión a todos los hijos de Israel.

10But all the congregation threatened to stone them with stones. Yahweh’s glory appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the children of Israel.

11Y el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés: ¿Hasta cuándo me desdenará este pueblo? ¿Y hasta cuándo no creerán en mí a pesar de todas las senales que he hecho en medio de ellos?

11Yahweh said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?

12Los heriré con pestilencia y los desalojaré, y a ti te • haré una nación más grande y poderosa que ellos.

12I will strike them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”

13Pero Moisés respondió al SEÑOR: Entonces lo • oirán los egipcios, pues tú sacaste a este pueblo de en medio de ellos con tu poder,

13Moses said to Yahweh, “Then the Egyptians will hear it; for you brought up this people in your might from among them.

14y se • lo • dirán a los habitantes de esta tierra. Estos han oído que tú, oh SEÑOR, estás • en medio de tu pueblo, porque tú, oh SEÑOR, eres visto cara a cara cuando tu nube está sobre ellos; y tú vas delante de ellos de día en una columna de nube, y de noche en una columna de fuego.

14They will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you Yahweh are in the middle of this people; for you Yahweh are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them, and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.

15Pero si tú destruyes a este pueblo como a un solo hombre, entonces las naciones que han oído de tu fama, dirán:

15Now if you killed this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying,

16"Porque el SEÑOR no pudo introducir a este pueblo a la tierra que les había prometido con • juramento •, por eso los mató en el desierto. "

16‘Because Yahweh was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness.’

17Pero ahora, yo • te ruego que sea engrandecido el poder del Señor, tal como tú lo • has declarado, diciendo:

17Now please let the power of the Lord be great, according as you have spoken, saying,

18"El SEÑOR es lento para la ira y abundante en misericordia, y • perdona la iniquidad y la transgresión; mas de ninguna manera tendrá por inocente al • culpable •; sino • que • castigará la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y la cuarta generación. "

18‘Yahweh is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and disobedience; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation.’

19Perdona, te ruego, la iniquidad de este pueblo conforme a la grandeza de tu misericordia, así como has perdonado a este pueblo desde Egipto hasta aquí.

19Please pardon the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your loving kindness, and according as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.”

20Entonces el SEÑOR dijo: Los • he perdonado según tu palabra;

20Yahweh said, “I have pardoned according to your word:

21pero ciertamente, vivo yo, que toda la tierra será llena de la gloria del SEÑOR;

21but in very deed, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with Yahweh’s glory;

22ciertamente todos los que han visto mi gloria y las senales que hice en Egipto y en el desierto, y que me han puesto a prueba estas diez veces y no han oído mi voz,

22because all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;

23no • verán la tierra que juré a sus padres, ni la verá ninguno de los que me desdenaron.

23surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of those who despised me see it.

24Pero a mi siervo Caleb, porque ha habido en él un espíritu distinto y me ha seguido plenamente, lo introduciré a la tierra donde entró, y su descendencia tomará posesión de ella.

24But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him I will bring into the land into which he went. His offspring shall possess it.

25Ahora bien, los amalecitas y los cananeos moran en los valles. Manana volveos y partid para el desierto, camino del mar Rojo.

25Since the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the valley, tomorrow turn, and go into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”

26Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

27¿Hasta cuándo tendré • que • sobrellevar • a • esta congregación malvada que murmura contra mí? He oído las quejas de los hijos de Israel, que murmuran contra mí.

27“How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, that murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

28Diles: "Vivo yo " —declara el SEÑOR —" que tal como habéis hablado a mis oídos, así haré yo con vosotros.

28Tell them, ‘As I live, says Yahweh, surely as you have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you.

29Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all who were counted of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me,

30surely you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore that I would make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

31"Sin embargo, vuestros pequenos, de quienes dijisteis que serían presa del • enemigo • a • ellos • los introduciré, y conocerán la tierra que vosotros habéis despreciado.

31But your little ones, that you said should be captured or killed, them I will bring in, and they shall know the land which you have rejected.

32"Pero en cuanto a vosotros, vuestros cadáveres caerán en este desierto.

32But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness.

33"Y vuestros hijos serán pastores por cuarenta anos en el desierto, y sufrirán por vuestra infidelidad, hasta que vuestros cadáveres queden en el desierto.

33Your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your prostitution, until your dead bodies are consumed in the wilderness.

34"Según el número de los días que reconocisteis la tierra, cuarenta días, por cada día llevaréis vuestra culpa un ano, hasta • cuarenta anos, y conoceréis mi enemistad.

34After the number of the days in which you spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, you will bear your iniquities, even forty years, and you will know my alienation.’

35"Yo, el SEÑOR, he hablado; ciertamente esto haré a toda esta perversa congregación que se han juntado contra mí. En este desierto serán destruidos, y aquí morirán. "

35I, Yahweh, have spoken. I will surely do this to all this evil congregation, who are gathered together against me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.”

36En cuanto a los hombres a quienes Moisés envió a reconocer la tierra, y que volvieron e hicieron a toda la congregación murmurar contra él dando un mal informe acerca de la tierra,

36The men, whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report against the land,

37aquellos hombres que dieron el mal informe acerca de la tierra, murieron debido a una plaga delante del SEÑOR.

37even those men who brought up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Yahweh.

38Pero Josué, hijo de Nun, y Caleb, hijo de Jefone, sobrevivieron de entre aquellos hombres que fueron a reconocer la tierra.

38But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, remained alive of those men who went to spy out the land.

39Y cuando Moisés habló estas palabras a todos los hijos de Israel, el pueblo lloró mucho.

39Moses told these words to all the children of Israel, and the people mourned greatly.

40Y muy de manana se levantaron y subieron a la cumbre del monte, y dijeron: Aquí estamos; subamos al lugar que el SEÑOR ha dicho, porque hemos pecado.

40They rose up early in the morning, and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, “Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Yahweh has promised: for we have sinned.”

41Mas Moisés dijo: ¿Por qué, entonces •, quebrantáis el mandamiento del SEÑOR, si no os • saldrá bien?

41Moses said, “Why now do you disobey the commandment of Yahweh, since it shall not prosper?

42No subáis, no sea que seáis derribados delante de vuestros enemigos, pues • el SEÑOR no está • entre vosotros.
WEB
42Don’t go up, for Yahweh isn’t among you; that you not be struck down before your enemies.
LBLA
43Pues los amalecitas y los cananeos estarán • allí frente a vosotros, y caeréis a espada por cuanto os habéis negado a seguir al SEÑOR. Y el SEÑOR no estará con vosotros.

43For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and you shall fall by the sword, because you turned back from following Yahweh, therefore Yahweh will not be with you.”

44Pero ellos se obstinaron en subir a la cumbre del monte; mas ni • el arca del pacto del SEÑOR ni Moisés se apartaron del campamento.

44But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain. Nevertheless, the ark of Yahweh’s covenant and Moses didn’t depart out of the camp.

45Entonces descendieron los amalecitas y los cananeos que habitaban en la región montanosa, y los hirieron y los derrotaron persiguiéndolos • hasta Horma.

45Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down, even to Hormah.
