1King Nebuchadnezzar built a gold statue, ninety feet high and nine feet thick. He set it up on the Dura plain in the province of Babylon.

1El rey Nabucodonosor hizo una estatua de oro, la altura de la cual era de sesenta codos, su anchura de seis codos; la levantó en el campo de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia.

2He then ordered all the important leaders in the province, everybody who was anybody, to the dedication ceremony of the statue.

2Y envió el rey Nabucodonosor a juntar los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, oidores, receptores, los del consejo, presidentes, y a todos los gobernadores de las provincias, para que viniesen a la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.

3They all came for the dedication, all the important people, and took their places before the statue that Nebuchadnezzar had erected.

3Fueron, pues, reunidos los príncipes, los asistentes y capitanes, los jueces, los tesoreros, los consejeros, los presidentes, y todos los gobernadores de las provincias, a la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado; y estaban en pie delante de la estatua que había levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.

4A herald then proclaimed in a loud voice: "Attention, everyone! Every race, color, and creed, listen!

4Y el pregonero anunciaba en alta voz: Se ordena a vosotros, oh pueblos, naciones, y lenguas,

5When you hear the band strike up—all the trumpets and trombones, the tubas and baritones, the drums and cymbals—fall to your knees and worship the gold statue that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.

5que al oír el son de la bocina, de la flauta, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento de música, os postréis y adoréis la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor ha levantado;

6Anyone who does not kneel and worship shall be thrown immediately into a roaring furnace."

6y cualquiera que no se postre y adore, en la misma hora será echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.

7The band started to play, a huge band equipped with all the musical instruments of Babylon, and everyone—every race, color, and creed—fell to their knees and worshiped the gold statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

7Por lo cual, al oír todos los pueblos el son de la bocina, de la flauta, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento de música, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, se postraron, y adoraron la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.

8Just then, some Babylonian fortunetellers stepped up and accused the Jews.

8Por esto en aquel tiempo algunos varones caldeos vinieron, y denunciaron a los judíos.

9They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, "Long live the king!

9Hablando y diciendo al rey Nabucodonosor: Rey, para siempre vive.

10You gave strict orders, O king, that when the big band started playing, everyone had to fall to their knees and worship the gold statue,

10Tú, oh rey, diste una ley que todo hombre al oír el son de la bocina, de la flauta, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento de música, se postrase y adorase la estatua de oro;

11and whoever did not go to their knees and worship it had to be pitched into a roaring furnace.

11y el que no se postrase y adorase, fuese echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.

12Well, there are some Jews here—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—whom you have placed in high positions in the province of Babylon. These men are ignoring you, O king. They don't respect your gods and they won't worship the gold statue you set up."

12Hay unos varones judíos, los cuales pusiste tú sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia; Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego; estos varones, oh rey, no han hecho cuenta de ti; no adoran tus dioses, no adoran la estatua de oro que tú levantaste.

13Furious, King Nebuchadnezzar ordered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be brought in. When the men were brought in,

13Entonces Nabucodonosor con ira y con enojo mandó que trajesen a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego. Y al punto fueron traídos estos varones delante del rey.

14Nebuchadnezzar asked, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don't respect my gods and refuse to worship the gold statue that I have set up?

14Habló Nabucodonosor, y les dijo: ¿Es verdad Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, que vosotros no honráis a mi dios, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que he levantado?

15I'm giving you a second chance—but from now on, when the big band strikes up you must go to your knees and worship the statue I have made. If you don't worship it, you will be pitched into a roaring furnace, no questions asked. Who is the god who can rescue you from my power?"

15Ahora, pues, ¿estáis dispuestos para que al oír el son de la bocina, de la flauta, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento de música, os postréis, y adoréis la estatua que he hecho? Porque si no la adorareis, en la misma hora seréis echados en medio de un horno de fuego ardiendo; ¿y quién será el Dios que os pueda librar de mis manos?

16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, "Your threat means nothing to us.

16Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego respondieron y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: No tenemos necesidad de responderte sobre este asunto.

17If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king.

17He aquí nuestro Dios a quien servimos, puede librarnos del horno de fuego ardiendo; y de tu mano, oh rey, nos librará.

18But even if he doesn't, it wouldn't make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn't serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up."

18Y si no, sepas, oh rey, que no serviremos a tus dioses, ni tampoco adoraremos la estatua de oro que has levantado.

19Nebuchadnezzar, his face purple with anger, cut off Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace fired up seven times hotter than usual.

19Entonces Nabucodonosor se llenó de ira, y se demudó el aspecto de su rostro contra Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego; por lo cual habló, y ordenó que el horno se calentase siete veces más de lo que solían calentarlo.

20He ordered some strong men from the army to tie them up, hands and feet, and throw them into the roaring furnace.

20Y mandó a hombres muy vigorosos que tenía en su ejército, que atasen a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, para echarlos en el horno de fuego ardiendo.

21Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, bound hand and foot, fully dressed from head to toe, were pitched into the roaring fire.

21Entonces estos varones fueron atados con sus mantos, y sus calzas, y sus mitras, y sus demás vestiduras, y fueron echados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.

22Because the king was in such a hurry and the furnace was so hot, flames from the furnace killed the men who carried Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to it,

22Y porque la orden del rey era apremiante, y habían calentado mucho el horno, la llama del fuego mató a aquellos que habían alzado a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego.

23while the fire raged around Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

23Y estos tres varones, Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, cayeron atados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.

24Suddenly King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in alarm and said, "Didn't we throw three men, bound hand and foot, into the fire?""That's right, O king," they said.

24Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor se espantó, y se levantó de prisa, y habló, y dijo a los de su consejo: ¿No echaron tres varones atados dentro del fuego? Ellos respondieron y dijeron al rey: Es verdad, oh rey.

25"But look!" he said. "I see four men, walking around freely in the fire, completely unharmed! And the fourth man looks like a son of the gods!"

25Respondió él y dijo: He aquí yo veo cuatro varones sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, y ningún daño hay en ellos; y el parecer del cuarto es semejante al Hijo de Dios.

26Nebuchadnezzar went to the door of the roaring furnace and called in, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the High God, come out here!"Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked out of the fire.

26Entonces Nabucodonosor se acercó a la puerta del horno de fuego ardiendo, y habló y dijo: Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, siervos del Dios Altísimo, salid y venid. Entonces Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego salieron de en medio del fuego.

27All the important people, the government leaders and king's counselors, gathered around to examine them and discovered that the fire hadn't so much as touched the three men—not a hair singed, not a scorch mark on their clothes, not even the smell of fire on them!

27Y se juntaron los grandes, los gobernadores, los capitanes, y los del consejo del rey, para mirar estos varones, cómo el fuego no se enseñoreó de sus cuerpos, ni cabello de sus cabezas fue quemado, ni sus ropas se mudaron, ni olor de fuego había pasado por ellos.

28Nebuchadnezzar said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel and rescued his servants who trusted in him! They ignored the king's orders and laid their bodies on the line rather than serve or worship any god but their own.

28Nabucodonosor habló y dijo: Bendito el Dios de ellos, de Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, que envió su Ángel, y libró sus siervos que esperaron en Él, y el mandamiento del rey mudaron, y entregaron sus cuerpos antes que servir o adorar a otro dios que su Dios.

29"Therefore I issue this decree: Anyone anywhere, of any race, color, or creed, who says anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will be ripped to pieces, limb from limb, and their houses torn down. There has never been a god who can pull off a rescue like this."

29Por tanto, decreto que todo pueblo, nación, o lengua, que dijere blasfemia contra el Dios de Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, sea descuartizado, y su casa sea puesta por muladar; por cuanto no hay otro Dios que pueda librar como Éste.

30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
