1God said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and tell him, 'God, the God of the Hebrews, says: Release my people so they can worship me.

1Depois, o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Entra a Faraó e dize-lhe: Assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus dos hebreus: Deixa ir o meu povo, para que me sirva.

2If you refuse to release them and continue to hold on to them,

2Porque, se recusares deixá-los ir e ainda por força os detiveres,

3I'm giving you fair warning: God will come down hard on your livestock out in the fields—horses, donkeys, camels, cattle, sheep—striking them with a severe disease.

3eis que a mão do SENHOR será sobre teu gado, que está no campo, sobre os cavalos, sobre os jumentos, sobre os camelos, sobre os bois e sobre as ovelhas, com pestilência gravíssima.

4God will draw a sharp line between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt. Not one animal that belongs to the Israelites will die.' "

5Then God set the time: "Tomorrow God will do this thing."

6And the next day God did it. All the livestock of Egypt died, but not one animal of the Israelites died.

7Pharaoh sent men to find out what had happened and there it was: none of the livestock of the Israelites had died—not one death. But Pharaoh stayed stubborn. He wouldn't release the people.

8God said to Moses and Aaron, "Take fistfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses throw it into the air right before Pharaoh's eyes;

8Então, disse o SENHOR a Moisés e a Arão: Tomai os punhos cheios da cinza do forno, e Moisés a espalhe para o céu diante dos olhos de Faraó;

9it will become a film of fine dust all over Egypt and cause sores, an eruption of boils on people and animals throughout Egypt."

9e tornar-se-á em pó miúdo sobre toda a terra do Egito, e se tornará em sarna, que arrebente em úlceras nos homens e no gado, por toda a terra do Egito.

10So they took soot from a furnace, stood in front of Pharaoh, and threw it up into the air. It caused boils to erupt on people and animals.

10E eles tomaram a cinza do forno e puseram-se diante de Faraó, e Moisés a espalhou para o céu; e tornou-se em sarna, que arrebentava em úlceras nos homens e no gado;

11The magicians weren't able to compete with Moses this time because of the boils—they were covered with boils just like everyone else in Egypt.

12God hardened Pharaoh in his stubbornness. He wouldn't listen, just as God had said to Moses.

13God said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh. Tell him, 'God, the God of the Hebrews, says: Release my people so they can worship me.

13Então, disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Levanta-te pela manhã cedo, e põe-te diante de Faraó, e dize-lhe: Assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus dos hebreus: Deixa ir o meu povo, para que me sirva.

14This time I am going to strike you and your servants and your people with the full force of my power so you'll get it into your head that there's no one like me anywhere in all the Earth.

14Porque esta vez enviarei todas as minhas pragas sobre o teu coração, e sobre os teus servos, e sobre o teu povo, para que saibas que não há outro como eu em toda a terra.

15You know that by now I could have struck you and your people with deadly disease and there would be nothing left of you, not a trace.

15Porque agora tenho estendido a mão, para te ferir a ti e ao teu povo com pestilência e para que sejas destruído da terra;

16But for one reason only I've kept you on your feet: To make you recognize my power so that my reputation spreads in all the Earth.

16mas deveras para isto te mantive, para mostrar o meu poder em ti e para que o meu nome seja anunciado em toda a terra.

17You are still building yourself up at my people's expense. You are not letting them go.

17Tu ainda te levantas contra o meu povo, para não os deixar ir?

18So here's what's going to happen: At this time tomorrow I'm sending a terrific hailstorm—there's never been a storm like this in Egypt from the day of its founding until now.

18Eis que amanhã, por este tempo, farei chover saraiva mui grave, qual nunca houve no Egito, desde o dia em que foi fundado até agora.

19So get your livestock under roof—everything exposed in the open fields, people and animals, will die when the hail comes down.' "

19Agora, pois, envia, recolhe o teu gado e tudo o que tens no campo; todo homem e animal que for achado no campo e não for recolhido à casa, a saraiva cairá sobre eles, e morrerão.

20All of Pharaoh's servants who had respect for God's word got their workers and animals under cover as fast as they could,

21but those who didn't take God's word seriously left their workers and animals out in the field.

22God said to Moses: "Stretch your hands to the skies. Signal the hail to fall all over Egypt on people and animals and crops exposed in the fields of Egypt."

22Então, disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Estende a mão para o céu, e haverá saraiva em toda a terra do Egito, sobre os homens, e sobre o gado, e sobre toda a erva do campo na terra do Egito.

23Moses lifted his staff to the skies and God sent peals of thunder and hail shot through with lightning strikes. God rained hail down on the land of Egypt.

23E Moisés estendeu a sua vara para o céu, e o SENHOR deu trovões e saraiva, e fogo corria pela terra; e o SENHOR fez chover saraiva sobre a terra do Egito.

24The hail came, hail and lightning—a fierce hailstorm. There had been nothing like it in Egypt in its entire history.

25The hail hit hard all over Egypt. Everything exposed out in the fields, people and animals and crops, was smashed. Even the trees in the fields were shattered.

27Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. He said, "I've sinned for sure this time—God is in the right and I and my people are in the wrong.

28Pray to God. We've had enough of God's thunder and hail. I'll let you go. The sooner you're out of here the better."

28Orai ao SENHOR (pois que basta) para que não haja mais trovões de Deus nem saraiva; e eu vos deixarei ir, e não ficareis mais aqui.

29Moses said, "As soon as I'm out of the city, I'll stretch out my arms to God. The thunder will stop and the hail end so you'll know that the land is God's land.

29Então, lhe disse Moisés: Em saindo da cidade, estenderei as mãos ao SENHOR; os trovões cessarão, e não haverá mais saraiva; para que saibas que a terra é do SENHOR.

30Still, I know that you and your servants have no respect for God."
ARC
30Todavia, quanto a ti e aos teus servos, eu sei que ainda não temereis diante do SENHOR Deus.
MSG
31(The flax and the barley were ruined, for they were just ripening,
ARC
31E o linho e a cevada foram feridos, porque a cevada já estava na espiga, e o linho, na cana;

32but the wheat and spelt weren't hurt—they ripen later.)

33Moses left Pharaoh and the city and stretched out his arms to God. The thunder and hail stopped; the storm cleared.

33Saiu, pois, Moisés de Faraó, da cidade, e estendeu as mãos ao SENHOR; e cessaram os trovões e a saraiva, e a chuva não caiu mais sobre a terra.

34But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he kept right on sinning, stubborn as ever, both he and his servants.

34Vendo Faraó que cessou a chuva, e a saraiva, e os trovões, continuou a pecar; e agravou o seu coração, ele e os seus servos.

35Pharaoh's heart turned rock-hard. He refused to release the Israelites, as God had ordered through Moses.
