1Adam slept with Eve his wife. She conceived and had Cain. She said, "I've gotten a man, with God's help!"

1Y conoció Adán a su esposa Eva, la cual concibió y dio a luz a Caín, y dijo: He adquirido varón de parte de Jehová.

2Then she had another baby, Abel. Abel was a herdsman and Cain a farmer.

2Y después dio a luz a su hermano Abel. Y Abel fue pastor de ovejas, y Caín fue labrador de la tierra.

3Time passed. Cain brought an offering to God from the produce of his farm.

3Y aconteció en el transcurrir del tiempo, que Caín trajo del fruto de la tierra una ofrenda a Jehová.

4Abel also brought an offering, but from the firstborn animals of his herd, choice cuts of meat. God liked Abel and his offering,

4Y Abel trajo también de los primogénitos de sus ovejas, y de su grosura. Y miró Jehová con agrado a Abel y a su ofrenda;

5but Cain and his offering didn't get his approval. Cain lost his temper and went into a sulk.

5mas no miró con agrado a Caín y a su ofrenda. Y se ensañó Caín en gran manera, y decayó su semblante.

6God spoke to Cain: "Why this tantrum? Why the sulking?

6Entonces Jehová dijo a Caín: ¿Por qué te has ensañado, y por qué ha decaído tu rostro?

7If you do well, won't you be accepted? And if you don't do well, sin is lying in wait for you, ready to pounce; it's out to get you, you've got to master it."

7Si bien hicieres, ¿no serás exaltado? Y si no hicieres bien, el pecado está a la puerta; con todo esto, a ti será su deseo, y tú señorearás sobre él.

8Cain had words with his brother. They were out in the field; Cain came at Abel his brother and killed him.

8Y habló Caín con su hermano Abel. Y aconteció que estando ellos en el campo, Caín se levantó contra su hermano Abel, y le mató.

9God said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?"He said, "How should I know? Am I his babysitter?"

9Y Jehová dijo a Caín: ¿Dónde está Abel tu hermano? Y él respondió: No sé. ¿Acaso soy yo guarda de mi hermano?

10God said, "What have you done! The voice of your brother's blood is calling to me from the ground.

10Y Él le dijo: ¿Qué has hecho? La voz de la sangre de tu hermano clama a mí desde la tierra.

11From now on you'll get nothing but curses from this ground; you'll be driven from this ground that has opened its arms to receive the blood of your murdered brother.

11Ahora, pues, maldito seas tú de la tierra que abrió su boca para recibir de tu mano la sangre de tu hermano:

12You'll farm this ground, but it will no longer give you its best. You'll be a homeless wanderer on Earth."

12Cuando labrares la tierra, no te volverá a dar su fuerza: errante y extranjero serás en la tierra.

13Cain said to God, "My punishment is too much. I can't take it!

13Y dijo Caín a Jehová: Mi castigo es más grande de lo que puedo soportar.

14You've thrown me off the land and I can never again face you. I'm a homeless wanderer on Earth and whoever finds me will kill me."

14He aquí me echas hoy de la faz de la tierra, y de tu presencia me esconderé; y seré fugitivo y vagabundo en la tierra; y sucederá que cualquiera que me hallare, me matará.

15God told him, "No. Anyone who kills Cain will pay for it seven times over." God put a mark on Cain to protect him so that no one who met him would kill him.

15Y le respondió Jehová: Ciertamente que cualquiera que matare a Caín, siete veces será castigado. Entonces Jehová puso señal en Caín, para que no lo matase cualquiera que le hallara.

16Cain left the presence of God and lived in No-Man's-Land, east of Eden.

16Y Caín se fue de la presencia de Jehová, y habitó en tierra de Nod, al oriente de Edén.

17Cain slept with his wife. She conceived and had Enoch. He then built a city and named it after his son, Enoch.

17Y conoció Caín a su esposa, la cual concibió y dio a luz a Enoc: y edificó una ciudad, y llamó el nombre de la ciudad del nombre de su hijo, Enoc.

18Enoch had Irad,Irad had Mehujael,Mehujael had Methushael,Methushael had Lamech.

19Lamech married two wives, Adah and Zillah.

20Adah gave birth to Jabal, the ancestor of all who live in tents and herd cattle.

20Y Ada dio a luz a Jabal, el cual fue padre de los que habitan en tiendas y crían ganado.

21His brother's name was Jubal, the ancestor of all who play the lyre and flute.

21Y el nombre de su hermano fue Jubal, el cual fue padre de todos los que tocan arpa y órgano.

22Zillah gave birth to Tubal-Cain, who worked at the forge making bronze and iron tools. Tubal-Cain's sister was Naamah.

22Y Zila también dio a luz a Tubal-caín, artífice de toda obra de bronce y de hierro; y la hermana de Tubal-caín fue Naama.

23Lamech said to his wives,Adah and Zillah, listen to me;you wives of Lamech, hear me out:I killed a man for wounding me,a young man who attacked me.

23Y dijo Lamec a sus esposas: Ada y Zila, oíd mi voz; esposas de Lamec, escuchad mi dicho: Que a un varón maté por mi herida, y a un joven por mi golpe:

24If Cain is avenged seven times,for Lamech it's seventy-seven!

24Si siete veces será vengado Caín, Lamec en verdad setenta veces siete lo será.

25Adam slept with his wife again. She had a son whom she named Seth. She said, "God has given me another child in place of Abel whom Cain killed."

25Y conoció de nuevo Adán a su esposa, la cual dio a luz un hijo, y llamó su nombre Set: Porque Dios (dijo ella) me ha sustituido otro hijo en lugar de Abel, a quien mató Caín.

26And then Seth had a son whom he named Enosh.That's when men and women began praying and worshiping in the name of God.
