MSG
1Stay on good terms with each other, held together by love.
AMP
1Let love of your fellow believers continue.
MSG
2Be ready with a meal or a bed when it's needed. Why, some have extended hospitality to angels without ever knowing it!
AMP
2Do not neglect to extend hospitality to strangers , for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.
MSG
3Regard prisoners as if you were in prison with them. Look on victims of abuse as if what happened to them had happened to you.
AMP
3Remember those who are in prison, as if you were their fellow prisoner, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body .
MSG
4Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy between wife and husband. God draws a firm line against casual and illicit sex.
AMP
4Marriage is to be held in honor among all , and the marriage bed undefiled ; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.
MSG
5Don't be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, "I'll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,"
AMP
5Let your character be free from the love of money , being content with what you have; for He has said, "I will never desert you , nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you !"
MSG
6we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I'm fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?
AMP
6So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, "The Lord is my Helper , I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?"
MSG
7Appreciate your pastoral leaders who gave you the Word of God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you, as well as their truthfulness. There should be a consistency that runs through us all.
AMP
7Remember your leaders who brought you the word of God; and consider the result of their conduct , and imitate their faith .
MSG
8For Jesus doesn't change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he's always totally himself.
AMP
8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
MSG
9Don't be lured away from him by the latest speculations about him. The grace of Christ is the only good ground for life. Products named after Christ don't seem to do much for those who buy them.
AMP
9Do not be carried away by diverse and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be established and strengthened by grace and not by foods , which bring no benefit or spiritual growth to those who observe them.
MSG
10The altar from which God gives us the gift of himself is not for exploitation by insiders who grab and loot.
AMP
10We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle (sacred tent) have no right to eat.
MSG
11In the old system, the animals are killed and the bodies disposed of outside the camp. The blood is then brought inside to the altar as a sacrifice for sin.
AMP
11For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp.
MSG
12It's the same with Jesus. He was crucified outside the city gates—that is where he poured out the sacrificial blood that was brought to God's altar to cleanse his people.
AMP
12Therefore Jesus also suffered and died outside the gate so that He might sanctify and set apart for God as holy the people through His own blood.
MSG
13So let's go outside, where Jesus is, where the action is—not trying to be privileged insiders, but taking our share in the abuse of Jesus.
AMP
13So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His contempt .
MSG
14This "insider world" is not our home. We have our eyes peeled for the City about to come.
AMP
14For here we have no lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come.
MSG
15Let's take our place outside with Jesus, no longer pouring out the sacrificial blood of animals but pouring out sacrificial praises from our lips to God in Jesus' name.
AMP
15Through Him, therefore, let us at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.
MSG
16Make sure you don't take things for granted and go slack in working for the common good; share what you have with others. God takes particular pleasure in acts of worship—a different kind of "sacrifice"—that take place in kitchen and workplace and on the streets.
AMP
16Do not neglect to do good, to contribute , for such sacrifices are always pleasing to God.
MSG
17Be responsive to your pastoral leaders. Listen to their counsel. They are alert to the condition of your lives and work under the strict supervision of God. Contribute to the joy of their leadership, not its drudgery. Why would you want to make things harder for them?
AMP
17Obey your leaders and submit to them , for they are keeping watch over your souls and continually guarding your spiritual welfare as those who will give an account . Let them do this with joy and not with grief and groans, for this would be of no benefit to you.
MSG
18Pray for us. We have no doubts about what we're doing or why, but it's hard going and we need your prayers. All we care about is living well before God.
AMP
18Keep praying for us, for we are convinced that we have a good conscience, seeking to conduct ourselves honorably in all things.
MSG
19Pray that we may be together soon.
AMP
19And I urge all of you to pray earnestly, so that I may be restored to you soon.
MSG
20May God, who puts all things together, makes all things whole, Who made a lasting mark through the sacrifice of Jesus, the sacrifice of blood that sealed the eternal covenant, Who led Jesus, our Great Shepherd, up and alive from the dead,
AMP
20Now may the God of peace who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood that sealed and ratified the eternal covenant,
MSG
21Now put you together, provide you with everything you need to please him, Make us into what gives him most pleasure, by means of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Messiah. All glory to Jesus forever and always! Oh, yes, yes, yes.
AMP
21equip you with every good thing to carry out His will and strengthen you , accomplishing in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
MSG
22Friends, please take what I've written most seriously. I've kept this as brief as possible; I haven't piled on a lot of extras.
AMP
22I call on you, brothers and sisters, listen to this message of exhortation and encouragement, for I have written to you briefly.
MSG
23You'll be glad to know that Timothy has been let out of prison. If he leaves soon, I'll come with him and get to see you myself.
AMP
23Notice that our brother Timothy has been released . If he comes soon, I will see you .
MSG
24Say hello to your pastoral leaders and all the congregations. Everyone here in Italy wants to be remembered to you.
AMP
24Give our greetings to all of your leaders and to all of the saints (God's people). Those from Italy send you their greetings.
MSG
25Grace be with you, every one.
AMP
25Grace be with you all.
