Jó 31Jó 33
MSG
1Job's three friends now fell silent. They were talked out, stymied because Job wouldn't budge an inch—wouldn't admit to an ounce of guilt.
NASB
1Then these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
MSG
2Then Elihu lost his temper. (Elihu was the son of Barakel the Buzite from the clan of Ram.) He blazed out in anger against Job for pitting his righteousness against God's.
NASB
2But the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram burned; against Job his anger burned because he justified himself before God.
MSG
3He was also angry with the three friends because they had neither come up with an answer nor proved Job wrong.
NASB
3And his anger burned against his three friends because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
MSG
4Elihu had waited with Job while they spoke because they were all older than he.
NASB
4Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job because they were years older than he.
MSG
5But when he saw that the three other men had exhausted their arguments, he exploded with pent-up anger.
NASB
5And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men his anger burned.
MSG
6This is what Elihu, son of Barakel the Buzite, said:"I'm a young man,and you are all old and experienced. That's why I kept quietand held back from joining the discussion.
NASB
6So Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite spoke out and said, 'I am young in years and you are old; Therefore I was shy and afraid to tell you what I think.
MSG
7I kept thinking, 'Experience will tell. The longer you live, the wiser you become.'
NASB
7'I thought age should speak, And increased years should teach wisdom.
MSG
8But I see I was wrong—it's God's Spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty One, that makes wise humaninsight possible.
NASB
8'But it is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.
MSG
9The experts have no corner on wisdom;getting old doesn't guarantee good sense.
NASB
9'The abundant may not be wise, Nor may elders understand justice.
MSG
10So I've decided to speak up. Listen well!I'm going to tell you exactly what I think.
NASB
10'So I say, 'Listen to me, I too will tell what I think.'
MSG
11"I hung on your words while you spoke, listened carefully to your arguments. While you searched for the right words,
NASB
11'Behold, I waited for your words, I listened to your reasonings, While you pondered what to say.
MSG
12I was all ears. And now what have you proved? Nothing.Nothing you say has even touched Job.
NASB
12'I even paid close attention to you; Indeed, there was no one who refuted Job, Not one of you who answered his words.
MSG
13And don't excuse yourselves by saying, 'We've done our best. Now it's up to God to talk sense into him.'
NASB
13'Do not say, 'We have found wisdom; God will rout him, not man.'
MSG
14Job has yet to contend with me.And rest assured, I won't be using your arguments!
NASB
14'For he has not arranged words against me, Nor will I reply to him with your arguments.
MSG
15"Do you three have nothing else to say?Of course you don't! You're total frauds!
NASB
15'They are dismayed, they no longer answer; Words have failed them.
MSG
16Why should I wait any longer, now that you're stopped dead in your tracks?
NASB
16'Shall I wait, because they do not speak, Because they stop no longer answer?
MSG
17I'm ready to speak my piece. That's right! It's my turn—and it's about time!
NASB
17'I too will answer my share, I also will tell my opinion.
MSG
18I've got a lot to say,and I'm bursting to say it.
NASB
18'For I am full of words; The spirit within me constrains me.
MSG
19The pressure has built up, like lava beneath the earth.I'm a volcano ready to blow.
NASB
19'Behold, my belly is like unvented wine, Like new wineskins it is about to burst.
MSG
20I have to speak—I have no choice.I have to say what's on my heart,
NASB
20'Let me speak that I may get relief; Let me open my lips and answer.
MSG
21And I'm going to say it straight—the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
NASB
21'Let me now be partial to no one, Nor flatter man.
MSG
22I was never any good at bootlicking;my Maker would make short work of me if I started in now!
NASB
22'For I do not know how to flatter, my Maker would soon take me away.
