Jó 39Jó 41
MSG
1God then confronted Job directly:
WEB
1Moreover Yahweh answered Job,
MSG
2"Now what do you have to say for yourself? Are you going to haul me, the Mighty One, into court and presscharges?"
WEB
2“Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”
MSG
3Job answered:
WEB
3Then Job answered Yahweh,
MSG
4"I'm speechless, in awe—words fail me.I should never have opened my mouth!
WEB
4“Behold, I am of small account. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.
MSG
5I've talked too much, way too much.I'm ready to shut up and listen."
WEB
5I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”
MSG
6God addressed Job next from the eye of the storm, and this is what he said:
WEB
6Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind,
MSG
7"I have some more questions for you,and I want straight answers.
WEB
7“Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me.
MSG
8"Do you presume to tell me what I'm doing wrong? Are you calling me a sinner so you can be a saint?
WEB
8Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?
MSG
9Do you have an arm like my arm?Can you shout in thunder the way I can?
WEB
9Or do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him?
MSG
10Go ahead, show your stuff.Let's see what you're made of, what you can do.
WEB
10“Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty.
MSG
11Unleash your outrage.Target the arrogant and lay them flat.
WEB
11Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low.
MSG
12Target the arrogant and bring them to their knees.Stop the wicked in their tracks—make mincemeat of them!
WEB
12Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.
MSG
13Dig a mass grave and dump them in it—faceless corpses in an unmarked grave.
WEB
13Hide them in the dust together. Bind their faces in the hidden place.
MSG
14I'll gladly step aside and hand things over to you—you can surely save yourself with no help from me!
WEB
14Then I will also admit to you that your own right hand can save you.
MSG
15"Look at the land beast, Behemoth. I created him as well as you.Grazing on grass, docile as a cow—
WEB
15“See now, behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox.
MSG
16Just look at the strength of his back, the powerful muscles of his belly.
WEB
16Look now, his strength is in his thighs. His force is in the muscles of his belly.
MSG
17His tail sways like a cedar in the wind;his huge legs are like beech trees.
WEB
17He moves his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together.
MSG
18His skeleton is made of steel, every bone in his body hard as steel.
WEB
18His bones are like tubes of brass. His limbs are like bars of iron.
MSG
19Most magnificent of all my creatures, but I still lead him around like a lamb!
WEB
19He is the chief of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword.
MSG
20The grass-covered hills serve him meals, while field mice frolic in his shadow.
WEB
20Surely the mountains produce food for him, where all the animals of the field play.
MSG
21He takes afternoon naps under shade trees, cools himself in the reedy swamps,
WEB
21He lies under the lotus trees, in the covert of the reed, and the marsh.
MSG
22Lazily cool in the leafy shadowsas the breeze moves through the willows.
WEB
22The lotuses cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook surround him.
MSG
23And when the river rages he doesn't budge, stolid and unperturbed even when the Jordan goes wild.
WEB
23Behold, if a river overflows, he doesn’t tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth.
MSG
24But you'd never want him for a pet—you'd never be able to housebreak him!
WEB
24Shall any take him when he is on the watch, or pierce through his nose with a snare?
