Jó 4Jó 6
MSG
1"Call for help, Job, if you think anyone will answer! To which of the holy angels will you turn?
NABRE
1Call now! Will anyone respond to you?To which of the holy ones will you turn?
MSG
2The hot temper of a fool eventually kills him,the jealous anger of a simpleton does her in.
NABRE
2Surely impatience kills the fooland indignation slays the simpleton.
MSG
3I've seen it myself—seen fools putting down roots, and then, suddenly, their houses are cursed.
NABRE
3I have seen a fool spreading his roots, but I cursed his household suddenly:
MSG
4Their children out in the cold, abused and exploited, with no one to stick up for them.
NABRE
4May his children be far from safety;may they be crushed at the gate without a rescuer.
MSG
5Hungry people off the street plunder their harvests, cleaning them out completely, taking thorns and all, insatiable for everything they have.
NABRE
5What they have reaped may the hungry eat up,or God take away by blight,or the thirsty swallow their substance.
MSG
6Don't blame fate when things go wrong—trouble doesn't come from nowhere.
NABRE
6For not from dust does mischief come, nor from the soil does trouble sprout.
MSG
7It's human! Mortals are born and bred for trouble,as certainly as sparks fly upward.
NABRE
7Human beings beget mischiefas sparks fly upward.
MSG
8"If I were in your shoes, I'd go straight to God,I'd throw myself on the mercy of God.
NABRE
8In your place, I would appeal to God,and to God I would state my plea.
MSG
9After all, he's famous for great and unexpected acts;there's no end to his surprises.
NABRE
9t He does things great and unsearchable, things marvelous and innumerable.
MSG
10He gives rain, for instance, across the wide earth, sends water to irrigate the fields.
NABRE
10He gives rain upon the earthand sends water upon the fields;
MSG
11He raises up the down-and-out,gives firm footing to those sinking in grief.
NABRE
11t He sets up the lowly on high, and those who mourn are raised to safety.
MSG
12He aborts the schemes of conniving crooks,so that none of their plots come to term.
NABRE
12He frustrates the plans of the cunning,so that their hands achieve no success;
MSG
13He catches the know-it-alls in their conspiracies—all that intricate intrigue swept out with the trash!
NABRE
13He catches the wise in their own ruses, and the designs of the crafty are routed.
MSG
14Suddenly they're disoriented, plunged into darkness;they can't see to put one foot in front of the other.
NABRE
14They meet with darkness in the daytime,at noonday they grope as though it were night.
MSG
15But the downtrodden are saved by God,saved from the murderous plots, saved from the iron fist.
NABRE
15But he saves the poor from the sword of their mouth, from the hand of the mighty.
MSG
16And so the poor continue to hope, while injustice is bound and gagged.
NABRE
16Thus the needy have hope, and iniquity closes its mouth.
MSG
17"So, what a blessing when God steps in and corrects you!Mind you, don't despise the discipline of Almighty God!
NABRE
17Happy the one whom God reproves! The Almighty's discipline do not reject.
MSG
18True, he wounds, but he also dresses the wound;the same hand that hurts you, heals you.
NABRE
18For he wounds, but he binds up; he strikes, but his hands give healing.
MSG
19From one disaster after another he delivers you;no matter what the calamity, the evil can't touch you—
NABRE
19Out of six troubles he will deliver you,and at the seventh no evil shall touch you.
MSG
20"In famine, he'll keep you from starving,in war, from being gutted by the sword.
NABRE
20In famine he will deliver you from death,and in war from the power of the sword;
MSG
21You'll be protected from vicious gossipand live fearless through any catastrophe.
NABRE
21From the scourge of the tongue you shall be hidden, and you shall not fear approaching ruin.
MSG
22You'll shrug off disaster and famine, and stroll fearlessly among wild animals.
NABRE
22At ruin and want you shall laugh;the beasts of the earth, do not fear.
MSG
23You'll be on good terms with rocks and mountains;wild animals will become your good friends.
NABRE
23With the stones of the field shall your covenant be,and the wild beasts shall be at peace with you.
MSG
24You'll know that your place on earth is safe, you'll look over your goods and find nothing amiss.
NABRE
24And you shall know that your tent is secure;taking stock of your household, you shall miss nothing.
MSG
25You'll see your children grow up,your family lovely and lissome as orchard grass.
NABRE
25You shall know that your descendants are many, and your offspring like the grass of the earth.
MSG
26You'll arrive at your grave ripe with many good years, like sheaves of golden grain at harvest.
NABRE
26You shall approach the grave in full vigor,as a shock of grain comes in at its season.
MSG
27"Yes, this is the way things are—my word of honor!Take it to heart and you won't go wrong."
NABRE
27See, this we have searched out; so it is!This we have heard, and you should know.
