1To the Chief Musician. A Song. A Psalm. Shout joyfully to God, all the earth;

2Sing songs to the tune of his glory,set glory to the rhythms of his praise.

2Sing of the honor and glory and magnificence of His name; Make His praise glorious.

3Say of God, "We've never seen anything like him!"When your enemies see you in action,they slink off like scolded dogs.

3Say to God, "How awesome and fearfully glorious are Your works! Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will pretend to be obedient to You.

4The whole earth falls to its knees—it worships you, sings to you,can't stop enjoying your name and fame.

4"All the earth will worship You , And will sing praises to You; They will praise Your name in song." Selah.

5Take a good look at God's wonders—they'll take your breath away.

5Come and see the works of God, He is awesome in His deeds toward the children of men.

6He converted sea to dry land;travelers crossed the river on foot.Now isn't that cause for a song?

6He turned the sea into dry land; They crossed through the river on foot; There we rejoiced in Him.

7Ever sovereign in his high tower, he keepshis eye on the godless nations.Rebels don't dareraise a finger against him.

7Who rules by His might forever, His eyes keep watch on the nations; Do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.

8Bless our God, O peoples!Give him a thunderous welcome!

9Didn't he set us on the road to life?Didn't he keep us out of the ditch?

9Who keeps us among the living, And does not allow our feet to slip or stumble.

10He trained us first,passed us like silver through refining fires,

10For You have tested us, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined.

11Brought us into hardscrabble country,pushed us to our very limit,

11You brought us into the net; You laid a heavy burden on us.

12Road-tested us inside and out,took us to hell and back;Finally he brought usto this well-watered place.

12You made men (charioteers) ride over our heads ; We went through fire and through water, Yet You brought us out into a place of abundance .

13I'm bringing my prizes and presents to your house.I'm doing what I said I'd do,

13I shall come into Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows,

14What I solemnly swore I'd dothat day when I was in so much trouble:

14Which my lips uttered And my mouth spoke as a promise when I was in distress.

15The choicest cuts of meatfor the sacrificial meal;Even the fragranceof roasted lamb is like a meal!Or make it an oxgarnished with goat meat!

15I shall offer to You burnt offerings of fat lambs, With the smoke of rams; I will offer bulls with male goats. Selah.

16All believers, come here and listen,let me tell you what God did for me.

16Come and hear, all who fear God , And I will tell what He has done for me.

17I called out to him with my mouth,my tongue shaped the sounds of music.

17I cried aloud to Him; He was highly praised with my tongue.

18If I had been cozy with evil,the Lord would never have listened.

18If I regard sin and baseness in my heart , The Lord will not hear ;

19But he most surely did listen,he came on the double when he heard my prayer.

19But certainly God has heard ; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.

20Blessed be God: he didn't turn a deaf ear,he stayed with me, loyal in his love.

20Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer Nor His lovingkindness from me.
