5"It's true that God is all-powerful,but he doesn't bully innocent people.

6For the wicked, though, it's a different story—he doesn't give them the time of day,but champions the rights of their victims.

7He never takes his eyes off the righteous;he honors them lavishly, promotes them endlessly.

8Se estão presos a grilhões, e a aflição os atormenta,

8When things go badly,when affliction and suffering descend,

9então dar-se-á ao trabalho de lhes indicar as razões de tal situação, aquilo que fizeram de mal, ou como se terão conduzido com altivez.

9God tells them where they've gone wrong,shows them how their pride has caused their trouble.

10Ajudá-los-á a ouvirem a sua instrução, a fim de se desviarem dos seus pecados.

10He forces them to heed his warning,tells them they must repent of their bad life.

11Se o ouvirem e obedecerem, então serão abençoados com prosperidade, todo o tempo das suas vidas.

11If they obey and serve him,they'll have a good, long life on easy street.

12Se, pelo contrário, lhe fecharem os ouvidos, perecerão no meio das lutas, morrerão em consequência da sua falta de bom senso.

12But if they disobey, they'll be cut down in their primeand never know the first thing about life.

13Angry people without God pile grievance upon grievance,always blaming others for their troubles.

14Living it up in sexual excesses,virility wasted, they die young.
