2antes que o decreto se realize ( como a pragana passa o dia), antes que venha sobre vós o furor da ira de Jeová, antes que venha sobre vós o dia da ira de Jeová.

2Before you are driven away,like chaff that disappears;Before there comes upon youthe blazing anger of the Lord;Before there comes upon youthe day of the Lord's anger.

3Buscai a Jeová, todos os mansos da terra, que tendes posto por obra o seu juízo; buscai a justiça, buscai a mansidão; pode ser que sejais escondidos no dia da ira de Jeová.

3Seek the Lord,all you humble of the land,who have observed his law;Seek justice,seek humility;Perhaps you will be shelteredon the day of the Lord's anger.

5Ah! You who dwell by the seacoast,the nation of Cherethites, the word of the Lord is against you!O Canaan, land of the Philistines,I will leave you to perish without an inhabitant!

6A costa do mar servirá de pasto, em que haverá cabanas para os pastores e currais para os rebanhos.

7A costa será para o resto da casa de Judá; ali, apascentarão os seus rebanhos; de tarde, se deitarão nas casas de Asquelom, pois Jeová seu Deus os visitará e fará voltar o cativeiro deles.

7The seacoast shall belongto the remnant of the house of Judah;by the sea they shall pasture.In the houses of Ashkelonthey shall lie down in the evening.For the Lord their God will take care of them,and bring about their restoration.

8I have heard the taunts uttered by Moab,and the insults of the Ammonites, When they taunted my peopleand made boasts against their territory.

9Portanto, pela minha vida, diz Jeová dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Certamente, Moabe será como Sodoma, e os filhos de Amom, como Gomorra, campo de urtigas, e poços de sal, e desolação perpétua; o resto do meu povo os despojará, e o restante da minha nação os possuirá.

9Therefore, as I live—oracle of the Lord of hosts—the God of Israel,Moab shall become like Sodom,the Ammonites like Gomorrah:A field of weeds,a salt pit,a waste forever.The remnant of my people shall plunder them,the survivors of my nation dispossess them.

11The Lord shall inspire them with terrorwhen he makes all the gods of earth waste away;Then the distant shores of the nations,each from its own place,shall bow down to him.

14No meio dela, se deitarão manadas, todas as feras das nações; alojar-se-ão nos capitéis dela tanto o pelicano como o ouriço; a voz do seu canto se ouvirá nas janelas; haverá desolação nos seus limiares, porque ele tem posto a descoberto a obra de cedro.

14In her midst flocks shall lie down,all the wild life of the hollows;The screech owl and the desert owlshall roost in her columns;The owl shall hoot from the window,the raven croak from the doorway.

15Esta é a cidade alegre que habitava cheia de confiança, que dizia no seu coração: Eu sou, e fora de mim não há outra; como se tem ela tornado numa desolação, num covil de feras! Todo o que passar por ela assobiará e meneará a mão.

15Is this the exultant city that dwelt secure,That told itself,"I and there is no one else"?How it has become a waste,a lair for wild animals!Those who pass by ithiss, and shake their fists!
