1Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away.

1For this reason we must pay much closer attention than ever to the things that we have heard, so that we do not drift away from truth.

2For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense;

2For if the message given through angels was authentic and unalterable, and every violation and disobedient act received an appropriate penalty,

3how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation — which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard;

3how will we escape if we ignore such a great salvation ? For it was spoken at first by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us and proved authentic by those who personally heard ,

4God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

4God also testifying with them , both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.

5For he didn’t subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.

5It was not to angels that God subjected the world of the future , about which we are speaking.

6But one has somewhere testified, saying, “What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?

6But one has testified somewhere , saying, "What is man, that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man, that You graciously care for him?

7You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor.

7"You have made him for a little while lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands;

8You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don’t see all things subjected to him, yet.

8You have put all things in subjection under his feet ." Now in putting all things in subjection to man, He left nothing outside his control. But at present we do not yet see all things subjected to him.

9But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.

9But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while , crowned with glory and honor because of His suffering of death, so that by the grace of God He might experience death for everyone.

10For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many children to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

10For it was fitting for God that He, for whose sake are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the author and founder of their salvation perfect through suffering .

11For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,

11Both Jesus who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for this reason He is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters,

12saying, “I will declare your name to my brothers. Among of the congregation I will sing your praise.”

12saying, "I will declare Your (the Father's) name to My brethren (believers), In the midst of the congregation I will sing Your praise."

13Again, “I will put my trust in him.” Again, “Behold, here I am with the children whom God has given me.”

13And again , "My trust and confident hope will be placed in Him." And again, "Here I am, I and the children whom God has given Me."

14Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in the same way partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

14Therefore, since children share in flesh and blood , He Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same , so that through death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) him who had the power of death—that is, the devil—

15and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

15and might free all those who through fear of death were held in slavery throughout their lives.

16For most certainly, he doesn’t give help to angels, but he gives help to the offspring of Abraham.

16For, as we all know, He (Christ) does not take hold of angels , but He does take hold of descendants of Abraham .

17Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.

17Therefore, it was essential that He had to be made like His brothers (mankind) in every respect, so that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things related to God, to make atonement (propitiation) for the people's sins .

18For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

18Because He Himself has suffered in being tempted, He is able to help and provide immediate assistance to those who are being tempted and exposed to suffering.
